[Clamav-users] Mail::ClamAV on FC2

2004-10-23 Thread Gerry Doris
I have been unable to install the perl module Mail::ClamAV on either of my
Fedora Core 2 boxes. Has anyone been able to get this to install on a FC2
system? Is there some kind of work around?

Gerry

 Why?

I've attached a file showing the errors I'm getting. I checked for
libclamav.so.1 and it is a symlink in /usr/local/lib to
libclamav.so.1.0.4.

Re: [Clamav-users] Mail-ClamAV installed virus

2004-08-12 Thread junkmail
Hi,
Sorry for he confusion. The virus I'm referring to is found in a CPAN
module archive Mail-ClamAV-0.01.tgz  Mail-ClamAV-0.05.tgz
http://www.cpan.org/modules/by-authors/id/S/SA/SABECK/

The change log in 0.05 mentions that the real virus was replaced by the
ecair virus signature. A virus scan of the file virus.eml will show up
positive.

I understand the chances of someone on a windows machine downloading the
old version of the file, unarchiving it, and then opening the virus.eml and
executing the update.exe attachment is pretty minuet. This is really more
for documentation purposes, and I just wanted to verify if the Swen virus
contained within the email was a wild and unmodified one.

If this is the wrong list to post this or these CPAN modules have nothing
to do with the clamav project I apologize for the interruption.

Thanks for your help.

Ted

 Hi,

 I was wondering prior to version .05 (feb 10, 2004) what the real
 virus installed with mail clam av was.

 Please can you rephrase your question?

 Version 0.05 of what?
 ClamAV does not install any viruses.

 When you added the path to your /etc/ld.so.conf did you re-run
 ldconfig? You could also check to make sure it's getting loaded by
 running ldconfig -v | grep libclamav.

Ah...That's what I missed. I didn't realize the two were connected. Once I
put the path in /etc/ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig, everything started working
properly.

It looks like it can't find clamav shared library. Is the location of
this library in your /etc/ld.so.conf? Also, try re-running ldconfig
or add the path to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.

You need to install bzip2 with shared libs (and probably the devel
stuff)

Seems strange they'd be left out of a modern distro.

2004-05-12 Thread Geoff Powell
Shoval,

The errors from your Mail::ClamAV installation indicate that you are
missing the package bzip2-devel. You should be able to find the RPM for
it on your local Redhat/Fedora mirror.

You can check if this is the case:
rpm -q bzip2-devel

After bzip2-devel is installed, Mail::ClamAV should build without a
problem

Geoff

DATA etc. I had done this to make re-injection easy if any part of the
scanning went haywire.

I have split the temporary file into a command and data file, a bit like
sendmail does and am pointing ClamAV at the data part. It now seems to
be working.

Glen.

[Clamav-users] Mail::ClamAV

2004-05-01 Thread Glen Eustace
I have just incorporated ClamAV, using Mail::ClamAV in our mail filter
software. But every message, including the EICAR test returns 'clean'.

Is there any debugging I can enable that will tell me what is going on?
Any clues as to what I am doing that might be wrong.

I am calling it via:
my $oStatus = $oCV-scan( /var/spool/spamfilter/queue/$oMsg-{FILE},
CL_ARCHIVE|CL_MAIL);

Well, I have gotten further now, my problem seems to be that the
scandesc function doesn't recognise my temporary file as a mail message.

My filter places the SMTP commands in the file as well, these seem to
prevent the scanner from working properly. Is there anyway I can trick
the scanner, or is it time to hack code ? Either mine or ClamAV

What is the header of the temporary file ?

Have a look at the magic array

cli_magic_s cli_magic

at the top of libclamav/scanners.c

Or look at my patch which adds the option --mbox-force

Hi,

there is (yet) undocumented but very useful feature in libclamav that
allows db dir monitoring:

initialization:
struct cl_stat dbstat;
cl_statinidir(dbdir, dbstat);

verification:
if(cl_statchkdir(dbstat) == 1) {
reload_the_database;
reinitialize_dbstat:
cl_statfree(dbstat);
cl_statinidir(dbdir, dbstat);
}

Also: could you please create a patch for amavisd-new that uses your
module ? (It should handle db changes).

Best regards,

[Clamav-users] Mail::ClamAV perl module available

2003-10-16 Thread Alex Krohn
Hi,

We've put together a perl module that provides access to almost all of the
C API for ClamAV. For example:

my $scanner = Mail::ClamAV-new(/path/to/virus/db/);
$scanner-buildtrie;
my $status = $scanner-scan(/path/to/file);
if ($status-virus) {
print Found: $status virus\n;
}
else {
print No virus found.\n;
}

It also supports scanning file handles or scalar variables.

Version 0.0.4 just went up today, you can grab it off your local CPAN
mirror or at:

http://cpan.gossamer-threads.com/modules/by-authors/id/S/SA/SABECK/Mail-ClamAV-0.04.tar.gz

and you can see the documentation at:

http://cpan.gossamer-threads.com/modules/by-authors/id/S/SA/SABECK/Mail-ClamAV-0.04.readme

Cheers,

Alex
