[Clamav-users] Sigtool Build Time

2004-07-28 Thread Vernon A. Fort
I'm tring to understand the Build time string in the sigtoo -i daily.cvd
file:

   Build time: 27 Jul 2004 15-12 +0200
specifically with the 15-12 +0200. I want to convert this to Central
time (US), any pointers.

Vernon

It means 15:12 GMT+2

I want to convert this to Central time (US), any pointers.

I don't know how many hours back off GMT is US Central time. You need
just decrease some number of hours from the above value.

well im not sure what the 15-12 is (12:15? 15:12? who knows) but since it was
built in +200 and us central time i believe is -500 at the moment? that would
be a difference of 7 hours. specifially you would be 7 hours behind the time
at the time it was built. im not sure about that -0500 figure. I know
eastern
is usually -0500 but during daylight savings time i can never figure it out.

CDT is GMT -0500 (CST is -6), so 15:12 GMT is 10:12 AM, CDT. The local time
at which the build was produced was 5:12 PM.

It means the signature was done at 3:12 pm (15:12) , in a GMT+2 zone.
So 1:12pm GMT.

Assuming Central Standard Time USA is GMT-5 in summer, it makes 8:12 am.

Perhaps there would be some sense in timestamping the signature
databases using only UCT, this would make it much easier to compare
different times, especially if they may be built in different timezones.

OK - thats exactly what confused me - if 15:12 was the Local Time or
15:12 + 2 hours.

Thanks
