Hi guys,

I am going dark for another three weeks.

Four days in Honolulu, ten days on the Big Island and a week on Maui. Please
try not to worry about me.

My apologies to Jim and Mike for not furthering the tether and insurance
discussions. But work activities the past two weeks during our annual
maintenance outage had me working 12 18 hour days for two weeks. Not much
time left for CC yachts yada yada.

And Dwight, I hope you're feeling better. Stay well my friend.

I'm really looking forward to this break.

Cheers, Russ

John,

It doesn't matter which one.

The important thing is that the drum(load) is supported by one of the pins that
the gears turn on.

If the ‎line puts load on the drum off the pin, there could be a tendency for
the drum to cock slightly and the gears would not mesh true.

As long as one pin is supporting the line as it touches the drum, everything
will remain true and all the load will pass though the drum to pin to bearings
to central boss.

Your right, the instructions‎ are not clear.

Help requested

I am mounting my new Lewmar EVO ST 40 winches tomorrow and the mounting
diagram in the application brochure shows the output gear orientation to be 90
degrees to the load as the correct orientation. This makes sense but my
winches are on the boat and I seem to remember that there are two gears 180
degrees apart engaging the drum. One gear is large and the other smaller and
the mounting diagram shows only one gear of undetermined size. The parts
diagram does not call either of these gears an output gear and both are part
#19 and called ratchet gears. Does anyone know which gear is the output gear
driving the drum?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Stus-List 3GM30F exhaust specs...

2014-04-13 Thread conner . sean
I'm in the process of swapping out and old 2QM20H (still running strong--just
had the chance to acquire an GM) with a 3GM30F. The 3GM has 2 exhaust which I
assume is OEM specs (none of the manuals specify exactly). But I was thinking I
could adapt to my existing 1.5 exhaust system and avoid the hassle of
replacing wet muffler and 10' of hose..

I think I found a post or two where this was done.. does anyone have experience
with this or strong caution against?
Thanks

ps. will try and post some specs on fit as I build the mock engine and figure
out dimensions, etc;

I went to the boat and installed the ST40 Lewmar winched today. The proper
orientation to the load is 90 degrees to the support pin of the big gear.
Lewmar instructions leave a lot to be desired.

As most of you know, I'll be doing the Annapolis to Bermuda race next
June with a crew of mostly CC owners whom I've met right here.

There are two pricey items I am hoping to borrow from someone on the list

Offshore medical kit and SOLAS flares.

I have a line on the flares locally, but I'd like to have a back up.

Please let me know if you have either and would be willing to lend to the

I was all set to upgrade to 2 because Yanmar says so...my mechanic pointed
out that the engine is at the very bottom of the recommendation chart,
which goes up to something like 75 hp for the same size exhaust hose. He
said not to bother.
Of course, now I have 10' of 2 exhaust hose, a 2 Centek muffler, and a

I was using the spray version, and I used it on my wind instrument, and
also on a lot of snap shackles and similar hardware. Worked great for a
