Re: Stus-List winches

2015-07-26 Thread dwight veinot via CnC-List
new sheets can be very slippery...I got a feeling the slippage may have
more to do with the new sheets than the winch...not sure how you could
"age" the line quickly but I know some new lines don't grip as well as
other on the winch...maybe use another wrap on the winch when you start to
use the handle

Stus-List 34+ location of inside hull ID#

2015-07-26 Thread davepulaski via CnC-List
Anyone know offhand where the inside hull# is on a '90 34+?
They wouldn't have put it underneath one of the fresh water tanks under the
setee, would they?

Many thanks!

Stus-List centreboard channel woes C&C 35-3

2015-07-26 Thread Phil via CnC-List
Help!

I have a C&C 35-3 with a centerboard. Last week we grounded on a sandbank
(pretty gentle grounding actually) and the centreboard channel tube
started to leak a little at the elbow (I don't really know what this is
called, but it is the tube in the cabin that goes from the deck straight
down to the keel in which the centreboard cable is housed). I've had
the boat hauled to make the repair - but I can't seem to get the darn
thing out.

I have removed the bolts at the deck that connect the topside pulley
through the hull to the channel tube in the cabin and I have undone the 4
nuts at the bottom that connect the tube to the hull at the keel (there
are plates welded to the channel tube at the top and bottom for
attachment). I have spent a pile of hours working at the bedding compound
beneath the tube to try and free it but no joy.

Does anyone have any idea of how this thing attaches? Do I need to drop
the keel in order to remove it or is the bedding compound just really
tenacious? Any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Phil

I can't say for sure on a 34+ but on my 37+ it is under the port setee up
against the forward bulkhead, molded into the fiberglass that supports the
setee platform. You have to remove the flat portion of the setee (by
pulling all the screws holding the plywood platform to the underlying
support) to view it.

Dave,

Mine was molded into the top of the port settee. I had to take off the top
sheet of wood (the seating surface) to find it. I was actually working on
another project and found it by accident.

Stus-List changing paint

2015-07-26 Thread Bev Parslow via CnC-List
Using micron csc at the moment and really not that happy with it. To put on a
harder paint (non ablative) do I need to take everything off and start again?
What is the easiest way to get rid of the paint?___

Any photos?

You may need un-5200 (I think that's the name) to dissolve the
adhesive/bedding compound. Just a guess.
