What are listers using to keep their toilets pumping freely? The manufacturer
sells something, but suspect there is a generic cheaper alternative. I've used
vegetable oil in the past, but that seems gum up the pump. A friend uses motor
oil but I worry about it not being compatible with the rubber parts.

I am currently without a C&C after having received "an offer I could not
refuse" for my 1990 34+. Among the treasures I have since discovered is a
Smart Mini Tank Monitor kit - never used - still in original packaging from
Fred Street. (Sorry Fred, I meant to get around to doing the install).

It has been a while and I cannot recall the original price, probably over
$100 USD or CDN, at an unknown exchange rate. Postage date March 2014.

Anyone willing to take this unit off my hands can contact me off line with
an offer which includes shipping. Thanks

Re: Stus-List Toilet lubrication

2017-09-29 Thread Patrick Davin via CnC-List
I just did this project last week. Used SuperLube. (and yes, as Marek says
this is what Peggy Hall recommends - I borrowed her book from the library a
few weeks ago). The pump is smooth as butter now. You should be able to
push the handle with 2 fingers. I've used bowl additives before (oil or
West Marine toilet lube) and they weren't as effective and didn't last more
than a week or so.

The hardest part is getting the lube in. On a Raritan toilet you can't open
the pump from the top like the Jabsco. A Google search has tips on how to
do it:

https://www.google.com/search?safe=off&q=super+lube+raritan+toilet
The first result was useful to me:

Re: Stus-List Hatch replacement experiences.

2017-09-29 Thread Ken Heaton via CnC-List
Lewmar does make a trim kit that covers all the nuts on the inside of the
boat. That is how C&C was installing all their hatches by the late 1980's
and into the 1990's.

For anyone interested in the Annapolis Bermuda race, there will be a happy
hour at EYC on 10/8 5:30 to 7:30. RSVP at bermudaoceanrace.com for a free
drink.

I'll be going to the boat show but I don't plan to buy much this year.

Re: Stus-List Replacement chain plate

2017-09-29 Thread Nauset Beach via CnC-List
A local rigger should have a source to fabricate a new chain plate. When I
replaced mine several years ago I found a rigger who could get them made but my
diesel mechanic “knew a guy” with a machine shop who did it for about half what
the rigger was charging. You might need to pull the other chain plate to be
used as a template.

Hello everyone,

We are just getting the decking back together on Freya IV (C&C 35 mk I) and it
would seem that the gentleman that was doing some of the deck repairs has lost
the port aft chain plate. Any ideas where I could get a replacement chain
plate made in the Greater Toronto Area?

Your assistance is appreciated.
