Yes, no acetone on the acrylic. 1/2 water; 1/2 alcohol

The bond definitely gets stronger over time. Make a small test piece (1" x 2"
acrylic) and wait a day or two. You shouldn't be able to pull it apart with
your fingers. Don't use acetone on the acrylic.

Aside from removing old butyl, filling holes and sanding to create a flat

I'm having the fixed windows replaced on my C 37/40+. I had fiberglass work

I bought the windows from South Shore and am having them installed with 3M

The VHS tape adheres great to the windows, but not so well to the deck. There
is 2 part epoxy primer on the window openings and it has been properly cleaned.
A test area has been sanded and the tape doesn't appear to stick there much
better. There is plenty of heat here in the North Carolina, so that is not the
problem.

Has anyone else had this issue of the tape not sticking well to the deck and
possibly have suggestions that I can pass to the yard?

  Thanks,

Mark, When I did my windows I didn't use a primer, just stuck the tape
(VHB4991) straight on the rough epoxy. You might try roughing up thr primer and
wipe with copious amounts of acetone. One thing I learned is put the windows in
when they are cool. The plexiglass expands in sunlight by quite a bit. When it
cools over time it will pull loose from the 795  causing leaks. Also bevel the
edge towards the hull, and slightly round the outer edge. I also rough up the
contact area of the plexi.Good luck

Almost at the end of my total refit. I am looking for stainless deck fills.See
pictures below like the one on the left of the picture.

The deck fills have a 3-3/4 inch flange with a 1-1/2 inch hose pipe. We need 3
water, 1 Diesel, and 1 waste.

Thanks everyone.

Stus-List Info posting

2018-07-06 Thread Glenn Gambel via CnC-List

Stu

I accidentally put my information, name, address, and phone number in a
message I intended to sent privately to Allen Hutton in Australia.
Could you remove that posting.
Thank you. Also if you send me your address via my private e-mail, I
would like to make a donation to the list via check.

Subject: Stus-List Landfall 38 - OSR compliance ?

I am researching the ability of my LF 38, to comply with the World Sailing
Offshore Special Regulations Cat 1, and would appreciate any feedback.

Most of it looks straight forward, and first checks show the boat complies, and
may even have been built with some of these in mind. Cockpit volume, Hatches,
etc.

However, I got stumped in the section with; stability calculations, ORC rating,
etc.

It would be easier if someone has prior history that they could share, hence
the post.

Here is what OSR says for Stability:

3.04

Stability

-

Monohulls

3.04.1 Able to demonstrate compliance with ISO12217-2* design category A or
higher, either by EC Recreational Craft Directive certification having obtained
the CE mark or the designer’s declaration * The latest effective version of
ISO12217-2 should be used unless the boat was already designed to a previous

version

3.04.2 Where compliance in accordance with 3.04.1 cannot be demonstrated, able
to demonstrate either:

a) i a STIXvalue not less than 32; and

ii AVS not less than 130 -0.002*m, but always >= 100°, (where “m” is the mass
of the boat in the minimum operating condition as defined by ISO12217-2); and
iii a minimum righting energy m*AGZ>172000 (where AGZ is the positive area
under the righting lever curve in the minimum operating condition, expressed in
kg metre degrees from upright to AVS); or

b) Stability Index in ORC Rating System of not less than 110; or

c) IRC SSS Base value of not less than 28

Yes I am stumped !

I know that Rick Knowles, “INDIGO” did the HFX/Marblehead race which (today
anyway) requires the above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

John

Stus-List Hacked Emails

2018-07-06 Thread Stu via CnC-List
Our email list has NOT been hacked. Email addresses from large providers such
as GMail, Yahoo, and others do get hacked on a regular basis and it looks like
a couple of our subscribers may have been hit.

There is not a lot you can do to prevent this happening but it is recommended
that you change your email password on a regular basis.

If you receive any type of suspicious email (like the two today), do not click
on any links – just delete the message.

have been hacked. I sold my 30-2 last year but I still read most of the posts
on the list. Can list administrator instruct me on how I can rectify this?
