Stus-List Storm Florence

2018-09-12 Thread Tom Buscaglia via CnC-List

John

This may help. I lived in Miami for 20 years and
saw some pretty crazy stuff, like sailboats a
block from the bay leaning vertical up against
lamp posts. and a 50 ft trawler about 1/2 mile inland.

Storm surges in areas with stationary docks
instead of floating ones like we have here in
Washington state can be a real problem.

I hope this article helps -->

Take care and good luck.

Well hoping for the best here in Oriental. This
rookie missed getting on the haul out list by a
few boats. And incant anchor out with my limited
experience so after 7 hours prepping the boat today for the frist time

I have done what i can also have a home here so it was a long day !
I am more concernd with. Surge which is predicted locally at 9-13 ft
Kinda hard to figure out how to tie up such a
forecast and i know i have done my best. I have
only owned Halcyon this season and just getting

Thanks Fred. I’m hunkered down with one boat in the water and one on the hard.
It looks like we will get a bit of wind and rain, but nothing serious. I’m
ready, just in case Florence can’t follow the line on the predictions. 😉

Thanks – Kent Island doesn’t look to be in for any worse from Florence than we
got from Gordon, which means rain and floods but winds not too bad.
We’ll see what happens, our docks are already underwater at high tide NOW.

I second Fred's wishes...; here in the Ohio valley we are still dealing with
the remnants of Gordon; the Ohio River rose fifteen feet last Sunday and we had
to move all of our "stuff" from our cottage; plus I had to move the boat to a
floating dock some 30 miles away! While that is significant, it pales alongside
dealing with a full on hurricane. Stay safe!
