Speaking of “good autopilots” has anyone installed an under deck autopilot on a
34+?  I think it would be possible although the installation would be a job for
a very small person ;)

You can see the fuel pressure gauge there. For a diesel you want it after the
lift pump, not after the injection pump! The vacuum gauge in this case is
connected to the engine for manifold vacuum, but that same gauge will show
filter vacuum just as well.
(manifold vacuum is not a thing for diesels unless you have a turbo-diesel, in
which case you would want a pressure gauge)

I have a fuel pressure gauge mounted in the cockpit that has a red light that
pops on if the fuel pressure drops below 1 PSI.

Talk to Roy Singh Roy’s Marine Service, he’s mostly at PCYC. He has a tool to
press out the bearing without removing the shaft, and press the new one in.

Stus-List Cutlass bearing tool

2020-06-05 Thread Len Mitchell via CnC-List
Hi Joel, Welcome! You can find a few home built tools on YouTube or by
searching online. Removing the bearing is easier with the shaft out imho. I
believe my tool is a piece of 3/8 threaded rod and nuts with large flat washers
and a 1/2 inch socket the appropriate size. There is also be a piece of pipe to
press the bearing into. It’s an inexpensive tool to build. The challenge will
be removing the coupling and shaft. The bearing is pretty easy. I didn’t have
the patience to build a shaft on bearing removal tool but they are out there.
Some marinas have a hydraulic shaft on kit but it looks expensive for a boat
owner to purchase. If you give your location someone will be able to help
direct you to a bearing source in your area.
