If they're slipping on ST winches, that means that they're also slipping
through the tailer. :Perhaps the lines are worn so that they are too small
diameter for the tailer. Also, there are four machine screws and springs
holding the tailer halves together. Those screws should be screwed all the
way down.

It’s the Winterville Machine Shop—they do a lot of custom work for DuPont in 
Kinston (I think they ‘spun off’ from DuPont back in the day!
Their facility is on Mill St. In ‘downtown’ Winterville—I don’t have a phone 
number for them. Call them early—at least in the summertime they start about 
4:00 AM and the place closes about noon!

I usually have to add two more wraps with Touche's VPC sheets and
halyards.  VPC is definitely slipperier than most.

Barient 21-33 ST winches seem to let the line slip even with 4 wraps tucked
snuggly into the tailer. Putting up the main and reefing is a bear. Could
it be that all of the drums happen to have lost their grip?
Lastly, does anyone have the service manual for these? I couldn't find it
on the L-36 site .
