The cable should have a part number on it. I'm told that number will be
everything you need to know for replacement.

I sent a cheque that paid for the files plus an additional amount to cover
shipping (as I live 2000 km away from South Shore Yachts). Once the cheque
cleared he shipped them in one quite heavy file box, via FedEx.

Hi Richard,
I didn't ask but they may have some more files if they found the ones they sold
me.  My guess is they are stored somewhere where it is inconvenient to go
looking through them, to find just one, so they don't bother, but that is just
a guess. I assume as I was willing to take a bunch at once, and was willing to
pay for them, they looked to see what they had in storage.  I did tell him if
they found more I'd buy them but never did get any more.

Re: Stus-List Broken Shift Cable C 44

2019-03-06 Thread Jonathan Boocock via CnC-List
Fred,
I replaced the throttle and shift cables on my C 44 in 2016 after the
shift cable broke.
The Edson information I received with the boat suggested that I needed a 64
series (5/16" ends) gear shift cable and a 33 series throttle cable.(10-32
ends).
I couldn't get Teleflex 64 series stuff so I ordered a Teleflex 3300, 22'
with 10-32 ends and Teleflex 43 series, 23' with 1/4-28 ends.

It turned out that both cables were 33 series with 10-32 end fittings.
Both the 22' and 23' cables worked fine so somethng in that range will work.
I didn't have a problem running the cables under the single fuel tank I
have in the aft cabin. It sounds like your configuration may be different
with 2 fuel tanks but you should be able to slide it alongside the exhaust
hose which keeps the fuel tanks up above the hull.
I ended up using the 43 Series cable assuming that it will be less likely
to fail in the future but had to modify the Edson end fitting in the
pedestal.

going to run a longer cable this time just to keep it off the furnace

the cable and making it pretty much useless. Please let me know where you
source the new cable from and I'll order one too! For length, it really
depends how it's run. My 44 only has one fuel tank under the aft double
berth, then under the floor to the engine. I'm probably going to run a
longer cable this time just to keep it off the furnace exhaust. Length
probably doesn't matter as long as the housing is cut the right length to
allow for the cable inside to move it's full range.

Hi Fred, I can't help on length, but for installing new cable. Before pulling
old cable out tie a 1/8 inch line to the cable to use for pulling new cable
back in place. Once cable is out it is a simple chore to measure. I use this
method for pulling wires, cables or what ever. Doug Mountjoy Sv Rebecca Leah

Broken shift cable Sunday the shift cable on my 44 broke. Are there any 44
owners out who have replaced this cable? My cable is a red Morse cable. My
question is; how long is it?I would like any suggestions on how to fish a new
cable in.  The cable comes down from the binacle runs under 2 fuel tanks and
floorboards to the engine. Thanks Fred Hazzard S/V Fury C 44Portland Or

I can’t help you with the cable length since my boat is different but I can
recommend replacing it with a twisted cable (like a wire stay) instead of a
solid cable. Good luck!
