Re: Stus-List New 1974 C&C MKII 35 Owner

2018-03-18 Thread Josh Muckley via CnC-List
Very nice. Welcome.

In case you missed it there are 2 C&C owner get togethers planned this
year. These are great ways to meet people face to face and see first hand
other's innovative solutions to problems that you may have or may
experience in the future.

The first is in September at Port Jefferson, NY.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QZ2S52J
https://youtu.be/OxOu2Ciucy0

The second is in October in Annapolis, MD. I believe Dennis is planning to
attend.
http://c-c-37-40.blogspot.ca/p/2018-mid-atlantic-c-rendezvous.html?m=1

Just a quick heads up on some "rules" that you may not be aware on the list:

1- Try to remember to shorten the message tails.

2- Try to ensure that the subject line matches the subject of the message.
This typically applies when the conversation evolves.

3- Avoid at all costs replying to the c&c list digests. You may have
turned the digest option off already but if not then you may consider doing
so.

4- You've already taken the time to create a informative salutation
including name, boat name, make & model, and hailing port.

I'm a happy new owner of a '74 MKII 35'. I was told of your fine little list
here by Dennis Cheuvront of Touche' fame. Dennis taught me to sail over the
past decade or so racing and cruising on his boat. I have him to now thank(or
blame) for the help and guidance during the search and purchase of my first
boat. I looked at quite a few Pearsons, Morgans, and many others but in the
end I decided on a boat I already new pretty well. I'm excited to get started
and proud to own a boat with such a proud and respected pedigree.

I am taking delivery of Second Wind (new name definitely forthcoming), from
Savannah to Pensacola Shipyard this week where I plan to do repairs and refits
to turn her into a little less of a racer and a little more of a coastal
cruiser. I just wanted to say how much help I've already gotten from the site,
the pics and from searching the archives. While compiling my to-do and
inspection lists, it was so much easier to plan for those tasks having those
resources. Just about every question I've had or modification I've pictured
have been discussed at some point.

I'm sure I'll have many more questions as the repairs and refits move along,
but for now I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for keeping this
resource alive and available. I hope to become an active member of the group
as soon as I have something worthy to contribute.

Boo! Boo! Ya'll know I'll never be able to get Kevin on Touche' again.
:) Kevin has been one of Touche's crew for years.

Congrats to Kevin. And thanks to Jack in Savannah for some help with
logistics.

Be it known I've contributed a LOT of items to Kevin's work list. He's
aware of most of the 35 MkII issues like the keelbolt plates, mast step,
etc.

He's having it shipped to Pensacola Shipyard where I currently keep
Touche'. I intend to get over there for a few days starting 3/26 to see if
I can make his work list even longer. :)

Honly 4 list members on the lake counting you, me, Kevin and
Brandon. One on the coast, Bob. Smattering of non-list owners in the
area. Am I forgetting anyone?

Not sure a rendezvous would work. Maybe a get together at Pat Obrien's or
somewhere on the coast.

2018-03-18 Thread Kurt Heckert via CnC-List
Hey Kevin, welcome to the fleet, I have a ‘75 35mkII up on Lake Lanier GA. Well
actually she is on the hard being rebuilt by me, she was in rough shape when I
bought her a couple of years ago. I should have her back in the water by the
end of the summer. Only sailed her once after I bought her and she gave me a
great ride, looking forward to doing it again.

 Hi C&C
 Listers,
 I'm a happy new owner of a '74 MKII
35'.  I was told of your fine little list here by
Dennis Cheuvront of Touche' fame.  Dennis taught me to
sail over the past decade or so racing and cruising on his
boat.  I have him to now thank(or blame) for the help and
guidance during the search and purchase of my first boat.
I looked at quite a few Pearsons, Morgans, and many others
but in the end I decided on a boat I already new pretty
well.  I'm excited to get started and proud to own a
boat with such a proud and respected
 pedigree.
I am taking delivery of Second Wind (new name
definitely forthcoming), from Savannah to Pensacola Shipyard
this week where I plan to do repairs and refits to turn her
into a little less of a racer and a little more of a coastal
cruiser.  I just wanted to say how much help I've
already gotten from the site, the pics and from searching
the archives.  While compiling my to-do and inspection
lists, it was so much easier to plan for those tasks having
those resources.  Just about every question I've had or
modification I've pictured have been discussed at some
 point.
I'm sure I'll have many more questions as
the repairs and refits move along, but for now I just wanted
to introduce myself and say thanks for keeping this resource
alive and available.  I hope to become an active member of
the group as soon as I have something worthy to
 contribute.

I think it was Dave who bragged about 5 C&Cs at his club/marina.

I think I shared this before, but a quick search through our Club's list shows
56 C&C of different vintage and size; there are more on the Lake/river. I did
not count any Landfalls or Tartans. A nice picture of a bunch of 27s is here:

That is pretty cool.  At one time we had six at our lake; three 30-1s, a 35-2,
a 33 and three 26s.Now I think we're down to my 30, a 35-3 and a 26.  There is
a 35-2 and 25 on the hard, but not going in anytime soon.Too bad. There is and
has been a Lancer 30, designed by C&C.  If that counts...RonWild CheriSTL

Congratulations Kevin!!
I also have a ’74 C&C MKII it is located in Victoria BC. I have been down to
see Dennis’s Touche a few times. I pass through NOLA several times a year for
work. Hopefully You, Dennis and I can get together and yammer on about C&C’s.
