Re: Stus-List CREWMEMBER NEEDED Halifax to Bermuda Direct in October

2019-10-10 Thread Andrew Burton via CnC-List
Dan,
I can't be at all certain that far out. My best guess is that it looks like
this current low moves off on Sunday, then another weak one forecast on Monday,
(though I wouldn’t be surprised to see that intensify). Looks calm on Tuesday
then a solid scary low on Wednesday. I wouldn’t call it a good window. I'd be
counting on five days for the passage on your boat...or mine, so if you left on
Sunday and had good conditions you should arrive on Friday.
Let’s revisit this as the time draws nearer. As I may have mentioned, I’m a fan
of the GFS models, which is what I’m basing the above on. GFS does tend to
underestimate the intensity of lows, which is why I would be keeping an eye on
the one for Monday.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,
We had trouble locking down a crew member for the direct Halifax to Bermuda
route until just recently - I think we found a retired gentleman with
offshore experience who seems keen to join us. That said, I've been
watching the weather using Windy.com and we've had this cyclical pattern
highs followed by lows moving up the Atlantic seaboard. The next one will
hit us on Saturday, however once this low pressure passes the prediction
for next week is starting to look ideal - calm conditions for several days
from here to Bermuda (I think) - If you don't mind I'd like to get your
take on next week as a potential window for a Bermuda passage?

Thanks Andy,
Dan

Dan,
When are you leaving Halifax? I'm off from Newport on. Swan 46 called Thankful
on Nov 2 (depending on weather, of course). Seems like as good excuse as any to
meet for a cocktail if we're there at the same time.

Stus-List CREWMEMBER NEEDED Halifax to Bermuda Direct in October

2019-09-30 Thread Dan via CnC-List
Hey all, we had a qualified crew member lined up for mid-late October for
our passage from Halifax to Bermuda, however he has had sudden life changes
and cannot make the trip.

We're seeking someone with at least a year of sailing experience - more is
better, preferably off-shore experience / passage making. It's not a paid
position, however we are providing meals and a private cabin or sea berth.
Travel to and from departure/destination is at the expense of the crew,
however we will offer passage to the US Virgin Islands, our second leg. We
expect 5-7 days for the Bermuda passage.

If you or anyone you know might be interested in joining us for a week at
