Stus-List Holding Tank and Archives

2019-07-03 Thread Paul via CnC-List
Hey all, I am looking for info on holding tanks. I need to replace mine as
I suspect its very old and is now cracking (fortunately on the top side for
now). The crazing lines in the hard plastic are turning to cracks.I'm
looking for suppliers - maybe even in Canada. The tank is a triangular
shaped under the V-berth. I know we've discussed them before and I'd love
to look back at the old archive threads but there are over 160 month to
individually walk through. Side questions - Is there an easier way to
search all of that, maybe a single search button I'm missing? Knowing that
would likely lower the traffic around here.

Stus-List Holding tank and archives.

2019-07-03 Thread Len Mitchell via CnC-List
Paul, the search box for the archives is on the bottom of the home page. Call
Peter at Holland Marine Products is good advice and he may even have one in
stock, you never know until you ask. He had one for our boat! Kracor made your
original tanks. Maybe get the dimensions if you don’t already have them. You
could have the tank made out of stainless or even aluminum but plastic will
last longer imho. A club member with a 1981 36 had a second tank made out of
stainless to fit the void above the original tank maybe 20 years ago with no
issues so it’s possible and there is room above. If you had to buy a bigger
tank make sure you measure the opening into your V, that’s critical and why
that club member went with two separate tanks.

Paul:

Ronco makes a direct replacement. I have an extra one from my 34 but
the fittings were slightly off (so I had them send a replacement). I kept
it because I couldn't bring myself to throwing out a brand new tank. If
you're willing to adjust the holes in your bulkhead a small amount, I'll
send it for the cost of shipplng (which, as I recall, can be relatively
costly). Let me know.

Paul,

To search the archives use x site:cncphotoalbum.com where x equals
your search term. So, for you, a possible search might be "waste tank site:
cncphotoalbum.com".

You might want to check Tank Depot (tank-depot.com).  They source both
Ronco and Todd tanks.

Shipping might be the biggest drawback.

Re: Stus-List Holding Tank and Archives

2019-07-12 Thread Adrian Humphreys via CnC-List
Rich Gray (ri...@ronco-plastics.com) at Ronco Plastics was a great help for us.

They had the mold to almost exactly replace the one in our 33-2. The tanks are
created when you order, so you can specify fittings and locations (but not tank
shape).

In our case we changed:
(1) the vent to 1" diameter, and
(2) the outlet fitting from a tap at the bottom of the vee to a dip-tube at the
top of the tank. This required some re-jiggering of the plumbing to the tank,
but it keeps all the fittings dry most of the time and under no pressure.

As others have mentioned, the shipping is high. I think about $150 for a $300
tank for us.
