David,

I lead mine straight to the winch. The lead is fair and have had no
problems. I got rid of the turning blocks on the quarters a long time ago.

I have the track but no hardware for it. It seems high to lead to the
primary on the side deck. How do you run the genoa sheet from this track?

2016-04-30 Thread Jake Brodersen via CnC-List
Doug,

We use them all the time. In 10kts of wind or less, they produce a great
sheeting angle. Once the wind pipes up, we may switch to the outside cars
to get some more adjustability. I damaged one of mine last year. We had
the car all the way forward on the inside track and it actually pulled the
track up and bent it. As it turns out, that last screw on the forward end
of the track doesn't carry any weight. It's just there to keep the car on
the track. When I repair it, I will make sure to through bolt that end of
the track.

Not all genoas are cut to use the inside track. It all depends on how yours
fits.

Re: Stus-List Short Genoa Track on 35-III

2016-04-29 Thread ALAN BERGEN via CnC-List
I don't have a short track. My Genoa track runs from the shrouds to just
even with the forward edge of the cockpit. I used to race with a #1, but
most of the time my boat was overpowered, and the main was back-winded. I
tried a #2, with a six second handicap gain, and was able to point higher.
Then I tried racing with a #3 (105%). I gained another three seconds, and
I point higher than everyone else in my fleet, with no noticeable change in
speed. We tack faster, and the main doesn't get back-winded. I never went
back to the larger Genoa.

Not in the two years I've owned and raced the boat. Perhaps if I had a blade.
