Yup...but I am hearing meteorological noise about a stalled re-powered (i.e.
hurricane force again) system in the Atlantic mid week next week that could
ultimately play with our Rendezvous Weekend.

That is really gonna bite.

It’s still unknown if Hermine will have any effect on the New York City /
Western Long Island Sound Area. The last I checked, we were on the edge of the
“cone” and only a 30% chance of rain on Sunday into Monday.
Nevertheless, Saturday looks to be wonderful and we will certainly Boldly Go on
that day.

All the best,

Well this bites.

Our club goes to Edgartown for the Labor Day Weekend and we then go on to Block
Island, East end of Long Island Sound or wherever and eventually hook up with
the Rendezvous. Usually great September weather greets us.

No fun sitting in a boat in the rain, getting wet going ashore to spend money
in the rain. One day or two OK...but not 3-4 wet days.

This bites.

Re: Stus-List labor day vs Hermine

2016-09-01 Thread Rick Brass via CnC-List
Hermione is definitely messing with us in eastern NC.

The 11 PM forecast last night had the track crossing over or slightly west of
Washington, NC; with 50 MPH winds and 5” of rain.

The 5 AM track had the storm coming out between Georgetown and Myrtle Beach, SC
and running up the coast. The 8 AM update moved the track a bit north so it
will basically be over Wilmington, NC at 1 AM on Saturday, track over the Outer
Banks, and come out around Cape Hatteras/Manteo area. More time over land, so
lower winds on the new track. But the projection keeps changing, but right now
they say 35 MPH winds with gusts to 50 and 6” of rain.

(BTW, Sunday 1AM forecast is for the center to be 100-200 miles off the
Delmarva Peninsula with max winds under 40 – under 30 to the NW and SW)

But they will update the forecast track again in a bit over an hour, so all
that may change again.

I’m leaving in a few minutes to take care of my 38, my 25, a friend’s 29-2, and
the 72 foot schooner I captain.

I'm supposed to be on a J30 Saturday. Current GFS forecast for Annapolis is
25-30 (down from 30-45). Sunday am looks wet.
