Re: Some Pointers for updating to Apache 2.0 license

2004-02-18 Thread John Keyes
Roy, Berin,
This document states the license file must be called 'LICENSE'
and the notice file called 'NOTICE'. In jakarta-commons the
convention used for the license file is LICENSE.txt. So my question
is, MUST the files be called 'LICENSE' and 'NOTICE' or will
'LICENSE.txt' and 'NOTICE.txt' suffice? Just seeking clarification
on this.
Thanks,

Not just me -- thanks to Berin as well, for providing the first draft
and getting me off my butt to finish it.

Put that on the back and Fitz's on the pocket (assuming that there
isn't a
price issue), and sell one to me. :-) Some of might want one even
if we
can't attend this year.

Lets leave the content up to the individual. This will probably evolve
anyway as more people read other committers pages and decide what they
like and what they don't like.

I was thinking of this and am going to contact Rob to offer my
services to be the Jakarta Commons *representitive* for the
newsletter, i.e. I will try to round up one committer per
project to drop me a line or two on a monthly basis which I
will send on to Rob.

It sounds like it would make sense if maven was modified
to import a projectinfo document and therefore it could
generate the project page using it. This would support
the vision of it being tool agnostic.

Re: request: terms/definitions for the glossary

2002-11-04 Thread John Keyes

Thats a great page Ken. I think this is one of the most
valuable resources on the Apache site I have read. The
definition of some of these phrases is not obvious so it
helps to have them written down. I think it would be
good to have this link publicised when someone joins a mailing
list so they can get up to speed.

I think this would be extremely helpful. As one of the newer
commiters I am naive in the ways of Apache so if there was a
place to learn more about what is truly behind 'Apache' would
be great.
