[QtMoko] new theme: MokoFaen
Hi people There is a new theme that I worked on: MokoFaen. It is the continuation of the work done on Faenqo/Faenqomod and it is inspired, in part, from the today smartphone GUIs (just to not say that... it shamelessly copies them ;) ). This theme is tested on QtMoko v35. I will flash the v37 on my Neo soon, I will submit updates if necessary for this version. Major changes from Faenqomod: - some icons updated from the recent release of Faenza icons set; - introduced new icons where needed; - a completely new Home theme [1]; - Dialer screen revised (bigger buttons but without the call-history and sms icons in the screen); You'll find the files/source (and some screenshots) here [2]. To install the theme extract MokoFaen.tar.gz and copy/merge the directory on your moko. Waiting for an enough brave man who can package it and upload it in qtmoko apps page (: As it is a sort of Faenqomod v2 I suppose that Faenqomod can be possibly deleted from the apps page. There is a question: some parts of the theme are taken from other works, IINW released under GPL2/3. Is it sufficient to attach the GPL license in the source? Best regards Joif [1] you can return to the classic view simply by replacing (in /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/mokofaen/) home.xml with home_classic.xml. Also you can disable the clock by commenting out its lines in home.xml. It could be cute to have a proper option to do these in the appearance app. [2] http://db.tt/8KF7DHRp -- View this message in context: http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/QtMoko-new-theme-MokoFaen-tp7085707p7085707.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
[QtMoko] modem reset
Hi! When my Neo is in a zone with a poor GSM signal for a while, say 15 minutes or more, it is unable to register on the network but also if I move in a zone with a good signal and for several minutes. To have it work again most of the time it is faster to turn it off and on again. I wonder if there is a faster way than shut it off... maybe could it be sufficient to reset only the modem than the entire system? but how to do it in QtMoko? About QtMoko future
Hi list In the announcement of QtMoko v33 there were some discussions about the future of QtMoko. But to date, I have not a clear vision about the current situation and the future of QtMoko, so I want to ask some questions to developers. 1) QtMoko is based on Qt Extended, is this Qt base still in development or is it an ended project? I mean, the main work on QtMoko is about bringing new and improved code or about solving bugs? 2) Is there a new environment, in step with the times, that could be convenient to use as a base for a new QtMoko? 3) If FSO, how many parts of the current QtMoko have to be rewritten? Will FSO be more difficult to use (in terms of writing new code)? 4) What about Qt Mobility? 5) Will QtMoko still remain Debian-based? (I hope so! :) ) 6) Is (or will be) there a way to write new apps (or modify extisting ones) in a relative easy way such as using Qt Creator? Thank you! Re: [QtMoko] faenqomod updated
Hi! The bulk of the Faenza icons used are png (exported from svg) with transparent elements. The jpgs do not support transparency, so a set of jpg icons, derived from the original pngs, could have graphical glitches. I have a question. I'm trying to bring in the context bar the inputmethod-plugin (the icon to choose the keyboard). In the context bar is easy to set three areas (maybe for a third button), this is the code (from the theme xml): http://pastebin.com/X1gkkf4n in this way I have: button0, button1, test pic; Now, if I take, from the title bar xml file, the lines for the inputmethod-plugin and I copy/paste them substituting the test pic (just adjusting the dimension and the position): http://pastebin.com/B9kFtq1s I have a non working system, it is necessary to delete the added lines or I can only use the moko via ssh from usb, the GUI seems to not load and I see only the console on screen. IIRC in previous versions of QtMoko I had an everlasting series of segmentation faults. the question is: why these lines work in the titlebar but not in the context bar? Thank you! [QtMoko] faenqomod updated
Hi list! This is an update of the faenqomod theme. It is based on the wonderful faenqo theme by cyberesprit and presents some variations. As we are collaborating, many of the features of this release of faenqomod could be included in the future releases of the original faenqo (and vice versa). The main project is hosted by cyberesprit, which I thank, on https://cyberesprit.fr/faenqo/ In this release of faenqomod you will see: - a different homescreen layout then the original faenqo; - different animation for battery in charge and in discharge; - new context buttons; - almost EVERY icons substituted with the Faenza icons (http://tiheum.deviantart.com/art/Faenza-Icons-173323228) and icons inspired on them; For now you'll find faenqomod, screenshots, and faenqo svg icons at http://db.tt/vG5D0yZ To install faenqomod it is necessary to copy/paste the files provided in the archive. I'll try to make a deb in the next days... but if someone is faster then me, he is welcome :) enjoy! Re: faenqo
Hi cyberesprit! You came here like the Spring! :D You made a really awesome theme! Now our Freerunner seems really a brandnew smartphone :D I was impressed by your work but I modified it a little bit according to my needs, this is the changelog: - /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/faenqo.conf: added the string IconPath=/pics/themes/faenqo_pics, so in this way there is no need to overwrite the default icons folder. - /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/home.xml: layout reworked to have OperatorName, Date, Time with bigger character and Profile (see screenshots: http://db.tt/vG5D0yZ); - /opt/qtmoko/pics/themes/faenqo, some icons substituted: -- titlebar and signal to have a better contrast (IMHO) -- colored missed-call(1) and message-in -- favourite, home, dialer (and I renamed the last one phone.png instead of text-css.png) -- personal-contact, message, call-history - /opt/qtmoko/pics/themes/faenqo_pics, some icons substituted: -- qpe/ : AppsIcon, Docsicon, SettingsIcon -- devtools, CallHistory, AddressBook (1) pay attention, actually there are two icons, call.pic and call.png, delete call.pic otherwise during compilation there will be a non working icon (see previous posts on qtmoko about the bug of invisibile missed-call icon). If you like these changes you can obviously merge them with your work! :) Otherwise my work will remain a simple derivative :) If anybody want to try it, download faenqomod.tar.gz from: http://db.tt/vG5D0yZ and just copy/paste folder and files following the proper order (there is no need to overwrite existing icon folder). There is also faenqomod_svg_icons.tar.gz, all the icons that I reworked in svg. I changed the name to faenqomod to distinguish it from the original faenqo theme. For now everything, apart the dialer, seems to work also with rotated screen! *screenshots* at the link above! I'm joking I'm joking ^_^ But remeber: If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas. George Bernard Shaw 1. Is that anything can be part of a theme without touching, for example, images of existing or potential system .xml file? 2. If yes, how to modify the areas as Main Menu, Call History, Contact Details, Edit Contact, ... ? 4. Can I change the needle on the loading animation? 5. How do I change the lists such as the Applications folder or bookmarks (- height, background image, ..)? 6. And the tabs? I encountered same problems when I was working on the finximod theme. Unfortunately there seems to be some limitations in working with the themes, and for more customizations it is necessary to work with the server widgets. From the qtextended docs: The concept of server widgets allows the customization of the Qt Extended main server widget beyond what is already possible due to theming. The main parts of the user interface are separated via abstract widgets which allows the replacement of a particular component such as the launcher or the call screen without having to worry about implications for other UI components. So, there are some arguments to study, here are the references: http://doc.trolltech.com/qtextended4.4/index.html http://doc.trolltech.com/qtextended4.4/userinterface.html http://doc.trolltech.com/qtextended4.4/qtopiaserverapplication.html#qt-extended-server-widgets Unfortunately there are no simple tutorials to follow... 3. How to view pictures .pic on my computer without going through the application of Pictures from QtMoko? eh, interesting question. QtMoko, new theme
Hi all! I realised a new theme for qtmoko starting from the finxi theme (I read some tutorial from doc.qt.nokia.com but I didn't find all the informations I was looking for), so for the moment its name is FinxiMod. I used some oxygen icons, I reworked some of them and created other graphical elements. I would like to make it more complete but I don't how to: - modify the main menu (it seems to me that there is no a .xml in the theme directories for it) - make the graphics adjustable for rotation (for the moment the theme is correctly displayed only when it is not rotated) - add a button in the context bar So, any help and contribution are welcome :) also to find a name for the theme :P Attached there are the source files (just the .xml files with the complete .svg and .png files) and those to use directly on qtmoko. As I don't know how to make the theme installable on qtmoko it is necessary to manually copy and paste the files: - copy finximod.conf in /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/ - create the finximod directory in /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/ - copy the .xml files in /opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/finximod - create another finximod directory in /opt/qtmoko/pics/themes/ - copy all the pics files in /opt/qtmoko/pics/themes/finximod some screenshots: http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/file/n5333298/screen1.png http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/file/n5333298/screen2.png http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/file/n5333298/screen3.png feedbacks appreciated enjoy :) Joif http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/file/n5333298/finximod.tar.gz finximod.tar.gz http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/file/n5333298/finximod_src.tar.gz finximod_src.tar.gz -- View this message in context: http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/QtMoko-new-theme-tp5333298p5333298.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Feedback for sms. There are no problems in receving messages (short sms or long sms). The problem in sending long sms still remains. If the sms is 3 pages long then an error appears and the recipient receives only 2 parts of 3 of the sms. If the sms is 2 pages long there is no error and the recipient receives the sms correctly. But in both cases, after sending the long sms, it seems that qtmoko has a problem in receving messages (like the missed messages old problem) and it is necessary to restart qtmoko. Also another problem that persists from the old versions is that while I'm writing a message, if I click in a certain point of the text to edit a part of it, it often happens that the text from that point until the end is highlighted and to make the text not highlighted I have to move through it using the arrows of the docked keyboard. -- View this message in context: http://openmoko-public-mailinglists.1958.n2.nabble.com/QtMoko-v22-tp4967705p4990027.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

[QtMoko] hwclock issue
Hi! I'm using QtMoko v16b on the NAND and I have other distro on the uSD. My time is GMT+1 and when I have to choose the correct time on QtMoko I set it on the Paris time zone. But when I use another distro I see that the time reported is exactly GMT not GMT+1. Also, some time after a reboot (and specially after using Debian) I see during the boot an error message about the impossibility to read the hardware clock and to set the time to 01/01/1970. This error disappears from the boot only if I remove the battery. This is what I have if I give date and hwclock in the terminal of QtMoko: neo:~# date Tue Jan 26 23:54:02 CET 2010 neo:~# hwclock Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method. Re: [Debian] installed on uSD ext3 using uboot
[SOLVED] reading the SHR manual I noticed that: Loading the Kernel A pair of u-boot commands must be used to load the kernel from SD. First is mmcinit, which will cause u-boot to detect the card. Next is a command to load a file into memory - either fatload or ext2load depending on whether the kernel is on a FAT filesytem or an ext2/ext3 filesystem. The command syntax is: fatload mmc 1:p 0x3200 filepath ext2load mmc 1:p 0x3200 filepath where p is the partition number, and filepath is the path to the file that is to be loaded. but I passed the ext2load parameter to uboot without filepath. Uboot was not able to load uImage.bin because it was in /boot directory, a symlink of uboot.bin did the trick :) -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Debian-installed-on-uSD-ext3-using-uboot-tp4428642p4441374.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

[Debian] installed on uSD ext3 using uboot
I used the search function but I didn't find any topic about this situation. Because the wikis in certain points are not clear, I write the following hoping it could help a neo freerunner newbie (not a linux newbie! :P) like me. The target is to have Debian installed on an ext3 partition on the uSD and booting with uBoot. I'm using a brandnew neofreerunner a7 with QtMoko v16b on NAND. What I did first: partitioning the uSD with fdisk (from QtMoko). I have a 8GB kingstone uSD and I tried this configuration: mmcblk0p1 ext3 Debian mmcblk0p2 ext3 other distro mmcblk0p3 ext3 data mmcblk0p4 swap To install Debian in the first ext3 partition (without other partitioning operations) I used the install script mentioned in the debian wiki in this way: $ TASKS=ALL SINGLE_PART=true SD_PART1_FS=ext3 ./install.sh --no-partitioning all Then I made a menu voice in uBoot with this parameters: setenv menu_9 Debian: setenv bootargs \${bootargs_base} rootfstype=ext3 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootdelay=5 \${mtdparts}\; mmcinit\; sleep 1\; ext2load mmc 1:1 0x3200 \${sd_image_name}\; bootm 0x3200 And that's all :) found issues: 1) if QtMoko goes in suspension something happens at the uSD and at the next boot of debian I receive the error : unable to read uimage.bin from mmc 1:1 wrong image format for boot command error: can't get kernel image Strange method but I solve this issue running again qtmoko (maybe a control with fdisk of the uSD) and shutting down it. 2) at the first boot of the current version of debian, the touch screen doesn't work properly. it has to be calibrated first but I don't know how to do it in this moment :) -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Debian-installed-on-uSD-ext3-using-uboot-tp4428642p4428642.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

[QtMoko] QtMoko v16B, few questions and issues
Hi, I'm a new neo freerunner user, I installed Qtmoko v16B on the NAND. I have few questions: 1) From http://activationrecord.net/radekp/qtmoko/ You should have FAT as first partition and swap on /dev/mmcblk0p4. Can be changed in /etc/fstab It is necessary to create a swap partion on the SD if I use Qtmoko on the NAND? 2) I prefer that GPS, bluetooth and wifi don't start automatically at the boot, wich file I have to edit to do that? 3) In movement writing sms with the default keyboards is not comfortable (my fingers are large :P ), I prefer to use the tipical phone keyboard used in the dialer or to insert the PIN of the SIM card. Is it possible to use this keyboard (maybe with prediction) for sms? how to change the prediction file? 4) it seems to me that the 'rotation' stretches the image on screen, is there another app to rotate the screen without stretch maybe using the accelerometers? 5) are web browser and arora able to read web pages with java and/or flash? 6) For downloadig apps is there a particular repository to add? 7) issues with v16b: after a suspend the devtools do not work properly, it's impossible to turn on GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth and also the bar at the bottom of the screen (with the menu and green arrow) doesn't work properly (clicking the green arrow open or close the menu instead of turning back, I have to click more time to turn back). the devtools and bar seem to work again after some attempts. thank you! -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/QtMoko-QtMoko-v16B-few-questions-and-issues-tp4408446p4408446.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
