Deseperately need some GTA02 debug board cable...
Hi, my debug board cable again broke... With the debug board I was able to send some patches upstream like: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git;a=commit;h=ad20ff920c1fd217578e2c637dd50c1878a21c06 http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git;a=commit;h=b2ccf065f7b23147ed135a41b01d05a332ca6b7e http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git;a=commit;h=b26469a8b139fba11d9336c1c117fafccfa9c7d5 http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git;a=commit;h=1ae5cbc52e7c6619a3f44b87809fd25370df31bb I was also able to produce updated kernels( https://gitorious.org/shr/linux/commits/shr-2.6.39-nodrm shr-3.x-nodrm branches ) for the gta02 but I didn't have enough time to fix all the bugs yet so they are not in use yet... The big problem is that It's way harder to track bugs without a debug board cable: with a debug board you can git bisect in a way more efficient way: you only need to apply a minimal set of patches on top of the commit you're testing...since you have serial you can see the output and interact with the phone... So Instead of finding or buying one debug board each time my cable break again I think it's way more efficient to get some cables-only. Does someone gives or sell such cables separately? Note(for the person selling/giving such cables) that the debug board itself still can be used separately from an openmoko: it is possible to use it as a BIOS flasher ( http://flashrom.org/FT2232SPI_Programmer#Openmoko ),serial port adapter or JTAG adapter... how to use JTAG on debug board ?
Hi OM developers, I'd like to use the OM debug board v3 for JTAG connection to my GTA02. I found http://people.openmoko.org/werner/openocd.cfg on http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/openmoko-kernel/2008-January/000708.html but this file does not work for any openocd release version I was able to find (I tried 0.1.0, 0.2.0, 0.3.1, 0.4.0 and git head). up to version 0.3.1 it "only" has this error invalid command name "daemon_startup_attach" and many warnings about lots of deprecated commands. even the oldest availabe version 0.1.0 already complains about jtag_speed: jtag_speed: 8 OLD SYNTAX: DEPRECATED - translating to new syntax which does not work anymore at all in 0.4.0 and newer... where can I find/get an openocd.cfg file for the GTA02 for a recent version of openocd ? thanks for any pointers how to get started with the debug board these days!! I bought a debug board with my FR in Jan 2009. I think I took it out of the anti-static bag once and that's it. Other than that, it's been sitting there. I don't even remember booting it once. I've got too many other projects demanding too much attention to make use of it any time soon. Said projects are also demanding $$$, so I really don't want to donate it. I'd prefer to sell it locally here in the SF Bay Area, but would entertain other options if somebody really wanted it. Exactly. It is not the CPU frequency but the RF receiver/transmitter. New Golden Delicious Offer: Freerunner now 279 EUR - debug board 49 EUR
Hi all, I just want to let you know that we (Golden Delicious and our partner TRIsoft) have been able to reduce our price for the Freerunner to support as many free and open source projects as possible (FOSDEM starts tomorrow...). The new price tags are: * Neo Freerunner GTA02 900MHz (incl. headset, pouch and laser-pen): 279 EUR * Debug Baord v3: 49 EUR * Letux 400 (wireless keyboard and display): 199 EUR * Invisible Shield: 18,90 EUR * other accessories: please see our web page below We have a volume rebate program starting at 5 units. And an educational rebate. So find friends and think about new open source projects. We provide you with the equipment you need. But hurry up, as supply of this offer is limited. I could borrow a multimeter today. The fpc cable is good, the connector on the debug board seems good. Testing the neo side gives stranges results. The first test I made, was to verify contacts between the 45pins on the cable and the h-tp150[23458] dots on the neo pcb. It worked once. Then I unplugged the cable, made various tests with both side (un)plugged. There is continuity between the connectors (wire on the white plastic), but the h-tp150* dots didn't beep again. I didn't succeed anymore with the first test. Then, I try to use openocd, and notice that the neo screen flashes less often. So the connector on the neo pcb seem's dead :( I didn't have tools to make electronics and soldier wires to h-tp150* dots, so I wonder if someone had already got success with scotch and small copper wire ? wiring these dots to the 20 pins empty connector of the debug board ? -- Frederic Leroy P.S : What is the led7 on the debug board ? Hello, I can't make openocd work with my neo. I checked carefully cables, use several usb port and have mainly test with a self-powered hub. When I plug the usb cable in the debug board or launch openocd, the screen of the neo flashes white. Sometimes, it just stay white when plugging the board on the pc. Is-it a good behaviour ? I try to use openocd with this configuration, and tried with changing speed to 0,4,8 : telnet_port gdb_port interface ft2232 jtag_speed 0 ft2232_vid_pid 0x1457 0x5118 ft2232_layout "jtagkey" reset_config trst_and_srst jtag_device 4 0x1 0xf 0xe daemon_startup attach target arm920t little reset_run 0 arm920t working_area 0 0x20 0x4000 backup run_and_halt_time 0 5000 You can found the output of openocd here : http://pastebin.com/m2e2b52b9 The version of openocd I tried was the ubuntu one, and the static one made by bitbake with the fso-makefile configuration. -- Frederic Leroy ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

debug board seems not working
hi, I'm using Freerunner and debug board v3, and trying to use serial console, and Ubuntu 8.04 on my PC. I have connected the FR and the debug board with the flexible cable. The /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 doesn't show up, but only /dev/ttyACM0, when I connected both USB of freerunner and debug board to PC, as described in http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Debug_Board_v3. 1. Should the /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1 show up while no FR connected to debug board (and the debug board connected to PC)? 2. Should I flash the debug board? Any idea? Debug Board JTAG Programming with openocd
I have been unable to coerce my Neo to charge batteries, so I have a feeling it has to do with the uboot image I flashed. Should I manually charge the batteries some other way? or continue trying to reflash the original uboot revision? (Can you even use the debug board if the battery is dead?) My current uboot revision: u-boot-gta01bv4-r11_e80955f07de03fef0196353e77534b2300193c1c_0_2348.bin What I am trying to do right now is get up and running with openocd, but I cannot get around this one error: # openocd -f /etc/openocd/openocd.cfg Info:openocd.c:84 main(): Open On-Chip Debugger (2007-01-31 12:00 CET) Error: jtag.c:1181 jtag_examine_chain(): JTAG communication failure, check connection, JTAG interface, target power etc. I know this means that it has found the debug board, but I am unsure what I should do to initialize the phone. (Simple as power?) I have my Neo wired up to the debug board, (2.7v) dead battery inside. Here are the steps I used to get where I am on Debian Etch: - moved 099_neo1973_debugboard.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d compiled/installed libusb-0.1.12 compiled/installed libftdi-0.10 add file usr-lib.conf to /etc/ld.so.conf.d/ insert line /usr/local/lib run ldconfig compiled/installed openocd from svn: svn co -r 137 http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/openocd/trunk openocd_137 ./bootstrap ./configure --enable-parport_ppdev --enable-ft2232_libftdi make; su; make install made /etc/openocd/openocd.cfg with: telnet_port gdb_port interface ft2232 jtag_speed 0 ft2232_vid_pid 0x1457 0x5118 ft2232_layout "jtagkey" reset_config trst_and_srst jtag_device 4 0x1 0xf 0xe daemon_startup attach target arm920t little reset_run 0 arm920t working_area 0 0x20 0x4000 backup run_and_halt_time 0 5000 ft2232_device_desc "Debug Board for Neo1973" - Some information I grabbed from here: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Debug_Board http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/OpenOCD#OpenOCD_and_Debug_Board http://svn.openmoko.org/developers/werner/notes/openocd Thanks, Kyle ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Debug board and "Advanced" accessories
It's been asked before but I didn't see a conclusive answer. Will the extra gear, like the debug board, being sold with the GTA01B_v4 Advanced set definitely be the same as will be sold with the GTA02 Advanced? I'd like to get the 01 Advanced then just buy the 02 Base, without missing out on anything in the 02 Advanced. Also, what are the chances of the debug connector being standard (ie compatible) across future FIC OpenMoko phones? cheers, Justyn ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
debug board
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Connecting_Neo1973_with_Debug_Board_v2 http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Debug_Board I really like the design. I was expecting a MAX232 and connector breakouts. For not much more work you have something much more functional. One warning though: Those connectors are rated for 20 insertions. They get sloppy/fiddly real quick.
