Rather, both GTA01 and GTA02 have problems with a certain model of SIM cards (Gemplus 3G), which unfortunately is widely used. The bug is specific to the combination of TI Calypso (the GSM modem used in OM phones) and this Gemplus smartcard. My bet here is on some timing issue, possibly related to incorrect ATR parsing. Christopher, As I understand it, your cellphone network provider routinely updates hardware and software in their system. As a result of this, occasionally older SIM cards may not function. I am told that this is somewhat routine, and that when this happens network providers simply provide a new SIM card. Thus we recommend that you contact your provider (NorthState), and request a replacement SIM card. Before you discard your old SIM card please update our database at http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/FreeRunner_unable_to_work_with_3G_SIM_cards. Then, when you get the new SIM card, please indicate whether this new SIM card solved the problem. One interesting note that I added to the wiki was that I did get strong signal bars despite "Registering...". I tried to make a call out to my Verizon phone. Once the call got through just enough to show my FreeRunner number but then dialer crashed. It seemed to try and be receiving text messages, as I got a lot of stuff from 411 and 611 showing up in my inbox, but all were blank. ...cj ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

I get the same error: AT&T "blazing 3G" SIM: 71234 D / 2022 It's a prepaid SIM I just got for testing. Steve, are you saying it's a bad SIM, a bad type of SIM, or a bad provider? I've not dealt much with SIMs before, so when going back to the AT&T store, I'd like to know how best to get them to give me a new one. Would this be related to why openmoko-dialer crashes whenever I try to dial out?
