[Compiz] [Bug 763005] Re: Fglrx with Compiz's "Sync to Vblank" makes Unity/Compiz plugins to crawl
@Felix: Thanks for the suggestion. That fixes the the fgl_glxgears update issue but the whole system still feels slower than before. The Compiz window repaint problem is still there - it would redraw fairly often if I move the mouse slowly while moving a window around but if I start moving it quickly it the image would stop to repaint and stay at one place until I slow down my mouse again. All during this time the mouse cursor repaints without any visible slowdown. I tried to record a video of it happening but it didn't work with xvidcap, probably due to compiz. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763005 Title: Fglrx with Compiz's "Sync to Vblank" makes Unity/Compiz plugins to crawl ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Dear @Derek: I can't reproduce this problem. I'm in no-win situation. (Ah... that is bug squad-er habits, non-reproducible bug is our defeat!) However, this much can be said: below results from my testing. - I can't encountered in any updates after comment#7. - I can't encountered in latest natty too. - Now, ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso (natty's release image) works fine too. [Compiz] [Bug 776565] Re: compiz no longer able to drive my external monitor on upgrade to 11.04; does not recover
For me, it's not just compiz, in that Unity also fails terribly if I start up with an external monitor attached, or plug one in after logging in. The extended portion of the desktop does crazy stuff, like having a second status bar and maybe second set of launcher icons, but they don't work normally, and only part of the screen being drawn on, and any windows dragged onto that display become black (invisible)... [Compiz] [Bug 776747] Re: Window freezes if opened while the scrollbar handle is being shown
** Description changed: Binary package hint: compiz While working with Filezilla today I found a curious bug which I guess lies inside the compiz manager (since it didnt happen in 10.10 with the same Filezilla version). If you open a new window while the scrollbar "handle" (that thing with the two arrows used to move the scrollbar in - some apps) this screen freezes and you have to force close the - application. + some apps) is being shown the new window freezes and you have to force + close the application. Steps to reproduce (with Filezilla): 1. Open Filezilla. Go to Edit > Settings; 2. In the settings screen, choose SFTP; 3. Move the mouse cursor over the scrollbar in the bottom of the window (right above the "add keyfile..." button). The scrollbar handle will be shown; 4. While the handle is still on the screen, click on the "add keyfile" button; 5. New window freezes, everybody gets sad ;( As I said, im reporting this as a Compiz bug since if you do the same steps but wait for the scrollbar handle to disappear before clicking the add keyfile button, everything works flawlessly so Im pretty sure this is not filezilla related. [Compiz] [Bug 728998] Re: Turning on wobbly windows in compiz causes issues in workspace switcher
I think I'm having the same issue. With wobbly windows on and a window maximized, when I go into expo and drag the window to another workspace, it moves workspaces just fine. However, if I go back into expo the window is still attached to the mouse pointer. The corners stay anchored, but the window warps, and when I leave expo it stays warped. The only way to fix this is to close the window. I'm guessing this has something to do with the plugin interacting with the "drag to top to maximize, and drag down to minimize" feature. Personally I thought this was one of MS's weaker innovations with Win 7, and I can't see why it's been copied by both Ubuntu and Gnome 3. Especially in the first run of the new desktop, when Compiz already has so many great effects. I think it is a pretty important bug, because this is one of the most popular Compiz effects, and one that really has a lot of wow effect when someone boots into a Linux desktop that uses it by default. Not terribly useful, but great presentation value. If Canonical is looking for a broader audience, it's better to showcase unique features rather than clone some from Win 7. Instead it seems that Compiz compatibility has been greatly scaled back rather than improved, which doesn't make much sense. It's like, Linux has some amazing effects, which Win 7 has made a pretty pathetic attempt to imitate, so to bring more people over to Linux let's dumb down our effects and make it more like Windows. Not to mention the login screen which is like placing a screen door on a skyscraper. Real Linux geeks aren't going to care, but for everyone else, presentation and first impressions are pretty important. That said, I really think Unity is a big step forward for the Linux desktop and personal computing in general. Another issue I'm having is that the panel will become badly distorted after changing various Compiz settings, and only a unity --replace will restore it. That seems to relate to issues mentioned in this post. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/728998 Title: Turning on wobbly windows in compiz causes issues in workspace switcher ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 776565] [NEW] compiz no longer able to drive my external monitor on upgrade to 11.04; does not recover
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz I upgraded from 10.10, under which my Lenovo T410s has had no trouble running, autodetecting, etc, an extended desktop over the laptop and an external LG Flatron W241T. In fact, if the external monitor is plugged in when the computer boots, the login screen won't even come up! And if I log in with it not plugged in, and then plug the monitor in once logged in, compiz freaks out trying to talk to it (it auto-detects the plugging-in event, so I don't need to bring up a Display dialog), and fails to come back. If I then unplug the monitor to try to recover, I get a blank screen, with a cursor but no activity. I have to reboot. But I noticed something else, if my mouse pointer is in the dead zone, and I click my middle button, it triggers the Inititate Rotate Cube effect from compiz (o presumably, any other compiz effect you have binded to that mouse event). It's like the dead zone is a hole through the desktop. [Compiz] [Bug 776424] [NEW] Compiz places unmaximized Chrome windows under the top panel
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz When running compiz under Ubuntu Natty, classic mode not Unity, unmaximized Google windows are incorrectly placed. They always appear aligned to the top of the screen. This places the title bar underneath the Gnome panel, hiding the window controls and making it difficult to move them. This can happen in a number of ways: - Open Google Chrome maximized (by having closed it maximized), and unmaximize it - Open Google Chrome unmaximized (by having closed it unmaximized) - Any javascript that opens a new Chrome window. I can see how this might work well under Unity, but that isn't a reason to break it when Unity is not running. This worked correctly under Maverick, and if I run metacity the Google Chrome windows behave as expected, so I'm filing it as a compiz bug. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776424 Title: Compiz places unmaximized Chrome windows under the top panel ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I want to use Natty with Unity for Java development, but tends to become more unlikely :-( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/727143 Title: Windows border disappears when closing Java windows ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 772177] Re: Alt+Tab "Feels" slow
It's not only the delay configuration Marc mentions. For me the static window switcher widget appears after a couple of seconds and is extremely laggy. If do alt+tab a couple of times Xorg cpu usage hits 100%. It seems it broke with todays updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772177 Title: Alt+Tab "Feels" slow ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 776204] Re: hang freeze
Don't hesitate to use metacity (instead of Compiz) in order to check if there is something wrong in Cairo-Dock. But if you switched from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04, you switched from Compiz 0.8 to 0.9 too (Compiz has been completely rewrited in C++...) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776204 Title: hang freeze ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 776204] Re: hang freeze
thank you for your quick reply. I thought this was Cairo related, since I only had it when running Cairo in 11.04. The evolution launcher I created still acts strange, there is no ball under it. I will try to get this issue again. I updated today and saw unity updates, maybe there are fixes in it. I posted the bug to try and get help in identifying it, if you think it is a compiz bug, I will try that. [Compiz] [Bug 776204] Re: hang freeze
Hello, Thank you for this bug report. If 'Top' showed compiz running at 100% cpu, I guess it's a bug with Compiz and not Cairo-Dock. When you click on a launcher, Cairo-Dock sends a request to X in order to display the windows or to minimise it, etc.. Then Compiz detects the request and animates the windows, changes the desktop (with animations, etc.). So I guess this bug is due to Compiz and not linked to Cairo-Dock because there is no direct link between them (except with a few applets like Switcher, ShowDesktop or when you put together in a subdock all applications with the same class). But don't hesitate to change the status if I'm wrong ;) ** Also affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: cairo-dock (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: cairo-dock (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Matthieu Baerts (matttbe) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776204 Title: hang freeze ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
