today after i booted up natty 32bit, the look of the panel on the top was grey like in windows 95. then i opened dash and entered appearance. after clicking on appearance, it crashed again and logged me out. I think I'm seeing a pattern here... first my stats: DELL INSPIRON 1501 ATI card Natty when it logged out I was on Facebook, on firefox, I was watching an embeded clip. My latest install was flash and I'd just updated firefox too. Prior to this I've never had a random logout. For now I will disable flash and see how things go. I have intel ironlake graphics. With natty's compiz in both unity and classic compiz is slower than it was in maverick. Resizing windows in normal mode is unusable. Yes, a similar issue has cropped up again in 11.04. I have tried the mulitload ppa and I can't say the excessive memory usage is going down. Compiz takes up 1.5-2.0 GiB memory after a few hours. Just to add myself to the dog-pile... Toshiba Satellite L500. Fresh install of 11.04 x64. Never happened with any other distro. Totally random. Only commonality is "selecting/confirming" something in any application. I have also noticed my wireless drops occasionally and I have to restart to reconnect. That is new as well, but may just be another of the myriad bugs with this release. No-one is assigned to this issue so it may be a while. Well I’ve done that, but no file were created in /var/crash except “_sbin_plymouthd.0.crash”, which I think is a crash of an other package. I’ve however enable apport in /etc/default/apport and re-created the bug in root mode. It doesn’t have added any file in /var/crash (including hidden ones), but apport launches, as if it were launched by normal mode. It surprises me that the report were very different and seems much more complete, containing immediate values of may variables. Here it is in attachment. I hope it will be helpful, not having succeeded in creating this “.crash” file… If you want me to try further tests, do not hesitate to ask. Martin. I am not the reporter of the bug, but the problem is still present for me. If I uncheck compiz sync to vblank windows move slow. The problem is that with sync to vblank enabled windows move smooth but fullscreen updates are limited to 30FPS for me. Without sync to vblank in compiz I get my 60FPS like expected. The difference is very noticeable, try +s with sync to vblank enabled and disabled. I moved on to 10.10 in February and I'll stay there all the summer so I can't test with Natty. However I'm not using the 10.10 standard compiz.
