It still happens for me with Ubuntu 11.10, too. Though, it only happens when Firefox is running. If I close firefox, everything is smooth again. I have to correct myself - the bug is still there with compiz from proposed installs. It appeared again after I installed Oneric as my main system and reusing my home directory from Natty for it. However, it has become trickier to reproduce, starting a new guest session and maximizing window works fine now. (That's why I first thought it was fixed). But I'm bitten by the bug nearly everytime I login to my normal user account. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Some applications, including Firefox and Skype, are *sometimes* not listed when holding down Alt and pressing Tab. This seems to be 100% reproducible in Firefox if it was closed in fullscreen (F11) mode, and then reopened. About 2/3 of the time Skype does not show up in the Alt- Tab menu, and this seems to coincide with it not being shown in the panel either. Instead of the Skype icon in the panel, there seems to be a 1 or 2-pixel area where the icon should be which is clickable to minimize and restore the application. ** Description changed: chromium/Chrome have onscreen notification icons for various apps (think irccloud.com). The notification bubbles typically are either for pure notification or actioning. When you click on the notification bubbles, chromium/Chrome brings the browser into focus and switches to the tab in question. This makes sense since I, as the user, actively clicked on the bubble indicating that I want to do something with that notification. However, in Unity when you are working in a different workspace, instead of switching to the browser it wiggles the application icon in the launcher. I would have expected it to switch me to the browser. Found the cause here. In /usr/share/themes/Ambiance/metacity-1/metacity-theme-1.xms: Section frame_style name=normal_focused geometry=frame_geometry_normal shadow radius is set to 8.0 just like in normal_unfocused.
