Tried Gnome Classic too. It's missing all the plugins (bug 1036752), but once I loaded a couple it was usable. This bug was almost nowhere to be found until I resized a window. Try this as a workaround (for Alt only): System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Launchers > Key to show the HUD Click on it and tap just the right Alt key. Now (I find) the HUD only responds to the right Alt key and will ignore the left. You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I configured compiz for expo and scale ("skalieren"). Sometimes it works
sometimes not. When booting the machine it randomly works. When going to
suspend sometimes it stops working. Sometimes only expo works, sometimes
both do not. When switching it off-and-on it always works.
How can I investigate the problem to get further information?

I've just freshly installed Ubuntu 12.10 again. I didn't add any PPA's and I'm testing with default settings since I've also created a new user. The performance in 12.10 got much worse in comparison with 12.04. Playing Oilrush in 12.04 I get 30FPS while in 12.10 I get barely over 10FPS. I still have tearing (even if bug 901097 is fixed now) but at least this gets fixed with the unredirect fullscreen windows setting. I have the same problem with desktop, windows and menus not redrawing correctly i.e. replaced by background color (black in my case). This is also on an Atom processor with integrated Intel graphics. I first noticed this yesterday when I made an unresolved symbol mistake in the opengl plugin. Then I noticed the same was true in imgsvg (bug 956986).
