[Compiz] [Bug 1749839] Re: 16.04: Installation of the 2/15/18 update to compiz forced removal of unity and ubuntu-desktop
I also have this same issue. I did not have another GUI installed, meaning I have no fallback package. No launcher or taskbar is present. [Compiz] [Bug 1424013] Re: Compiz high CPU and UI freeze on NVIDIA after fix for #269904 in trusty-updates
I found the black-screen problem on a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop after doing an update on 14.04 LTS recently (early September 2016). This is a 32-bit machine. As a workaround I installed flashback: apt-get install inxi gnome-session-flashback compizconfig-settings-manager I could then select either of the Gnome options and log in OK (i.e. it works with both Metacity and Compiz, but the normal Ubuntu session fails). OpenGL renderer string: GeForce Go 7300/PCIe/SSE2 Turning off X11 Sync Objects did not fix it. I then tried some different drivers using System Settings -> Software and Updates -> Additional Drivers X.Org with Nouveau did not work at all Nvidia 173 works OK. Summary: using the older Nvidia 173 driver is an adequate workaround for me, but it looks as if this problem is more complex than just 'Sync Objects'. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424013 Title: Compiz high CPU and UI freeze on NVIDIA after fix for #269904 in trusty-updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1424013/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 815996] Re: Desktop occasionally freezes/locks up when switching workspaces
I have a similar bug, but i'm not sure if it's the same issue. I'm not using compiz as far as i know and i don't think i have the workspaces enabled. But after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04 my system freezes often when chrome is up and a video. It almost seems like a memory problem, but perhaps it's related to the graphics driver. Here is my bug that i reported. If it's not the same, then just ignore my comments. [Compiz] [Bug 1063617] Re: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the same bug, but after setting custom shortcuts on my system, they work until a reboot. I'm on 13.04, and I'm wondering if this is a bug, or my own fault. I have set custom shortcuts to do the following; "alt+w" changes to next song (rhythmbox-client --next) "alt+q" changes to previous song (rhythmbox-client --previous) now before I get a chewing out, let me explain, I would like to have two sets of shortcuts to change songs, as my laptop has media keys, but when I "dock" it at home, my keyboard I use doesn't have media keys. Thus the need for two sets of shortcuts. They work perfectly, till I restart, at which point they stop working. When I go into the keyboard shortcuts custom menu, they are still there and set, but I hare to reset them before they work again. Any ideas? same Bug? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1063617 Title: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1063617/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 863192] Re: Compiz using large amounts of CPU when running Chrome
Confirmed that this is still a problem in 12.04. It's definitely the same as http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=98869. When a pinned tab starts flashing, CPU usage jumps. To bring it back down again, you have to select the pinned tab, then select a different tab. There's no fix yet and no option to stop pinned tabs from flashing when their content changes. [Compiz] [Bug 876198] Re: When switching workspaces with rotate/cube previous Ws contents are momentarily displayed
I'm suffering from this, too; rotate cube shows a flash of the previous workspace, moving a window with rotate cube borks after the rotation, and using "fade" for my focus animation causes a flicker instead of a smooth fade ( might be #147141 ). Oneiric x64, Intel core i5-2430M HD3000 integrated graphics with i915 driver. My environment is built up from an ubuntu server base, so no unity. Xdm + ~/.xinitrc + compiz is my wm. My workaround until this is resolved is to use Desktop Wall instead of Cube. Wall works really well for both desktop switching and window moving -- probably because it's the primary workspace manager for Unity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876198 Title: When switching workspaces with rotate/cube previous Ws contents are momentarily displayed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/876198/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Public bug reported: When using the "put top right" key combination of ctrl+alt+KP9 or when setting upper right corner to "top right corner" under edges and then moving a window to that corner, compiz mistakenly places the window across the top edge rather than in the top right corner. apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected natty ubuntu ** Description changed: I'm assuming the issue is related to Compiz, but I'm not 100% sure. When I'm switching workspaces, it occasionally locks up (becoming more frequent). Most of the time, I'm going from the current one down (Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow), and it freezes mid slide. [Compiz] [Bug 815996] [NEW] Desktop occasionally freezes/locks up when switching workspaces
Public bug reported: I'm assuming the issue is related to Compiz, but I'm not 100% sure. When I'm switching workspaces, it occasionally locks up (becoming more frequent). Most of the time, I'm going from the current one down (Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow), and it freezes mid slide. Typically, I'm able to correct things by backing out to a terminal then returning (Ctrl+Alt+F1, pause, Alt+F7), but sometimes when I return the dual screen setup acts as one large screen (windows are stretched to the full width of both screens) and many of the windows collect on the first workspace. Re: [Compiz] [Bug 728998] Re: Turning on wobbly windows in compiz causes issues in workspace switcher
I changed over to binary driver weeks ago and the issue still exists, to make it happen do the following: Turn on wobbly windows bring up workspace switcher when you have some maximised windows and some not move them around for a while, you will find windows freezing in place bent out of shape etc, and resizing in strange positions. Just retested again with beta1 Cheers, AT On Mon, 2011-04-04 at 01:03 +, pablomme wrote: > I don't get this problem, but I'm using the binary nvidia driver on both > my computers. If so then it is fixed, as does not crash when enabled now, but it is still unusable with workspace switcher. [Compiz] [Bug 515682] Re: Change "Show Desktop" keybinding to Super+D
Three months to review a one line patch that was even spec'd at UDS-L. Oh well... @ Nigel: You tagged this patch-needswork. Could you please elaborate on what needs work? The currently proposed branch doesn't touch upstream code at all. It patches debian/metacity-common.gconf-defaults. I suppose I could re-write it to patch metacity itself, but upstream hasn't expressed any interest. Things like setting different default keybindings seems completely acceptable to do at the distro level. That's why we even have tools like dh_gconf that make it dead simple to change a default gconf setting in the packaging without patching the upstream source. -- Change "Show Desktop" keybinding to Super+D https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/515682 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Compiz] [Bug 580591] [NEW] compiz 'scale' window picker very slow in lucid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz-fusion-plugins-main After upgrade to 10.04 the 'scale plugin' window picker became horribly slow: It has a lag of about 1-2 seconds in activation, does not cancel the animation if I do activate it in process of scaling (which may take up to 2-3 seconds) but instead it queues the actions and continues to bounce repeatedly. Also, while in 'scale' mode if I move mouse over scaled windows, the additional lag of about 2 seconds is introduced for each window I hover over, sometimes resulting in a lag of 5 or more seconds total before I can use the activated window. The lag also shows in tooltips slowly following my mouse trip: tooltips with windows names appear and disappear each time with a lag, so total lag increases if I move the mouse around. The problem is, it was OK in 9.10 and worked perfectly. Also there is no CPU activity during lags actually so the lag is definitely introduced somewhere in the program. [Compiz] [Bug 155101] Re: Applications that save position re-open at wrong location (shifted by window decorations)
Small python script to assist future testers. This is still present in Karmic under Compiz, but not under Metacity. Repeated bouncing on the Tab key shows and hides the small utility window, causing it to gradually move down the screen with {compiz-gnome 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu2.1, python-gtk2 2.16.0-0ubuntu1, libgtk2.0-0 2.18.3-1ubuntu2.1} at least. ** Attachment added: "winbounce0.py" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38628470/winbounce0.py -- Applications that save position re-open at wrong location (shifted by window decorations) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155101 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Compiz] [Bug 258078] Re: empathy contact list position after closing/re-opening
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 155101 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155101 Marked as dup since the "keeps moving down and down" behaviour is completely typical of a window unmapped and then re-mapped with NorthWest window gravity under Compiz (even the Karmic one), and because the OP didn't seem too certain about what WM he was using (sorry lsmobrian! but gdm is not a window manager. A better question would be "is it still happening, and do you have Desktop Effects turned on?") :) -- empathy contact list position after closing/re-opening https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/258078 You received this bug notification because you are a member of compiz packagers, which is subscribed to compiz in ubuntu (via bug 155101). ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~compiz Post to : compiz@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~compiz More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
