[Compiz] [Bug 1393020] Re: Remember Focus does not play well with unity launcher so shouldn't be default enabled

2014-11-22 Thread Matthieu Baerts
I also have this kind of problem.

But I also note this other problem which is not reproducible each time but I
guess this bug is related to this one:
* Open two maximised windows: one on the first workspace, the other on the
second one.
* Switch between workspaces and the focus will not changed.
e.g. I have my text editor on workspace 1 and Firefox on the next workspace. My
text editor's window has the focus and it keeps it even if I switch to the next
workspace.

I didn't have this bug on Ubuntu 14.10.

[Compiz] [Bug 1311189] Re: Compiz ShowDesktop plugin: _NET_SHOWING_DESKTOP is not modified

2014-05-10 Thread Matthieu Baerts
** Summary changed:

- Cairo-dock buggy show desktop
+ Compiz ShowDesktop plugin: _NET_SHOWING_DESKTOP is not modified

** Description changed:

+ When using the Show Desktop plugin of Compiz, _NET_SHOWING_DESKTOP
+ attribute is not modified (always set to 1).
+
+ It's a problem because other apps (like Cairo-Dock) don't know when the
+ WM stops showing only the desktop. This _NET_SHOWING_DESKTOP attribute
+ should be modified when showing only the desktop and modified again when
+ at least one window is displayed.

 installed then the weekly-cairo-dock to that ! - have forgotten to

No need to remove older versions before the upgrade ;)

 how do I solve this problem now ???
In fact, it will be easier for us if you upload here a screenshot with this bug
because it's not easy to understand what's wrong :)

[Compiz] [Bug 1181165] Re: bold black background in low-bottom of dock

2013-05-17 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Ok thank you,

Can you check that you're using Compiz? E.g. by launching this command from a
terminal which should print something if Compiz is running:
   $ ps aux | grep [c]ompiz

If Compiz is running, can you give us more details about your video cards and
your video drivers?
   $ glxinfo | grep OpenGL
   $ lspci | grep VGA

And is it better without the OpenGL backend?
   $ cairo-dock -c

Or with the default theme?
   $ cairo-dock -d ~/cd-tmp

If you're not using Compiz, check if it's possible to use it or enable the
composite manager (if it's metacity: ):
   $ gsettings set org.gnome.metacity compositing-manager true

= http://www.glx-

[Compiz] [Bug 749084] Re: Dbus-Plugin of compiz not working

2011-09-24 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Same problem for me if I try to enable Compiz plugins by using DBus!
This is how to reproduce my bug: simply launch this command:
   $ dbus-send --type=method_call --dest=org.freedesktop.compiz
/org/freedesktop/compiz/core/screen0/active_plugins org.freedesktop.compiz.set
array:string:'dbus','decoration','place'

And compiz says:
  compiz (core) - Warn: Can't set Value with type 12 to option
  active_plugins with type 11

I think I use the right command because this is the example written in the code
there: http://git.compiz.org/compiz/core/tree/plugins/dbus/src/dbus.cpp (I've
replaced 'allscreens' by 'screen0')
Or do I use a wrong command?
Compiz gives me the same error if I use this function (in C):

dbus_g_proxy_call_no_reply (proxy,
set,
G_TYPE_STRV,
plugins, // type= **gchar
G_TYPE_INVALID)

Note that I've no problem to receive the list in C or with this command:
   $ dbus-send --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.compiz
/org/freedesktop/compiz/core/screen0/active_plugins org.freedesktop.compiz.get

PS: please have a look to these commands and the output messages:
   $ dbus-send --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.compiz
/org/freedesktop/compiz/core/screen0/active_plugins org.freedesktop.compiz.get

[Compiz] [Bug 685823] Re: [ GIT version ] Crash after having changed the viewport

2011-08-11 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Just to note that I still have this bug on Oneiric and I think I've more
crashes than before.

How to reproduce this crash:
 * In the ccsm / 'Place' plugin, link an application to a viewport (e.g.
Firefox on the viewport 1;1).
(* I think you also have to enable your 'wall'plugin and to add an animation
when a new window is opened with a not too short duration - like 350)
 * Open this application from another viewport (e.g. 0;0) and switch to this
viewport linked to your application and Compiz will crash.

I hope it will help you!

Thank you

** Summary changed:

- [ GIT version ] Crash after having changed the viewport
+ [ Oneiric ] Crash after having changed from a viewport to another where an
application is opening with an animation.

[Compiz] [Bug 776204] Re: hang freeze

2011-05-25 Thread Matthieu Baerts
I guess Metacity is your non-accelerated desktop, also called Ubuntu without
any effects
(But you can also launch this command from the Alt+F2 menu: metacity --replace)

 Is there anything I can do to provide more info?
Yes I think you can upload some info by using this command launched from a
terminal:

[Compiz] [Bug 776204] Re: hang freeze

2011-05-03 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Hello,
Thank you for this bug report.

If 'Top' showed compiz running at 100% cpu, I guess it's a bug with Compiz and
not Cairo-Dock.
When you click on a launcher, Cairo-Dock sends a request to X in order to
display the windows or to minimise it, etc.. Then Compiz detects the request
and animates the windows, changes the desktop (with animations, etc.). So I
guess this bug is due to Compiz and not linked to Cairo-Dock because there is
no direct link between them (except with a few applets like Switcher,
ShowDesktop or when you put together in a subdock all applications with the
same class).
But don't hesitate to change the status if I'm wrong ;)

** Also affects: compiz (Ubuntu)

[Compiz] [Bug 776204] Re: hang freeze

2011-05-03 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Don't hesitate to use metacity (instead of Compiz) in order to check if there
is something wrong in Cairo-Dock.
But if you switched from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04, you switched from Compiz 0.8 to
0.9 too (Compiz has been completely rewrited in C++...)

[Compiz] [Bug 685823] Re: [ GIT version ] Crash after having changed the viewport

2011-02-27 Thread Matthieu Baerts
I still have this bug with the latest git revisions.

This is how to reproduce this bug:
* compiz_crash-2271.out:
 - Launch an application that takes a few time to open (e.g. eclipse or use a
sleep with another window)
 - Then, launch expo plugin and wait for the opening of a new window.

* compiz_crash-15953.out:
 - Launch an application that takes a few time to open (e.g. eclipse or use a
sleep with another window)
 - Switch from a viewport to another when a new window is opening.

Helix effect is launched when opening windows but it seems it happens
with all effects.

[Compiz] [Bug 685837] [NEW] [Natty] Compiz doesn't want to start on Unty.

2010-12-06 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Hello,

I'm on Ubuntu Natty from Maverick release and I compile Compiz 0.9.x from git
sources from a long time ago.
I'm not able to launch the latest package of Compiz (installed from Ubuntu
Natty repository). I always have this error:
Error: Couldn't load plugin 'ccp'

I've removed this directory ~/.config/compiz-1 (with Default.ini) and I've also
tried with default settings (thanks to ccsm) but I always have this error.
With these default settings I'm able to use the latest version or Compiz
compiled from git sources.
I also try to load the kernel with 'nomodeset' flag and it's not better.

I've purged all compiz packages and removed the /usr/share/compiz and
/usr/lib/compiz directory and then reinstalled these packages: compiz,
compiz-fusion-plugins-main, compizconfig-backend-gconf, compiz-gnome,
compizconfig-settings-manager  compiz-plugins, compiz-core

I see that I can download old deb packages in this page :
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/1:0.8.2-0ubuntu15
I can test these packages tonight if you want.

[Compiz] [Bug 434963] [NEW] Compiz no longer resizes windows properly as before, since version 0.8.2-0ubuntu16 (Karmic)

2009-09-22 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Hello,

I'm part of the Cairo-Dock team. Cairo-Dock is (more than :) ) a dock
using Cairo/OpenGL backend. It needs a composite support and it worked
very well until this last month on Ubuntu Karmic : some flashes appear
(rarely) when the window used by Cairo-Dock is resized. In fact Cairo-
Dock resizes its window when the dock is active.

I saw this bug last month (~28 Aug) and it seems that it's not a bug due to
Cairo-Dock. I haven't any problem on Jaunty and I use Karmic from the
beginning. I've also tested with a previous version of Cairo-Dock and the
problem is the same. The problem is also present with the last release of
Compiz (0.8.3+git20090917-0ubuntu1).
I guess it's due to the 0.8.2-0ubuntu16 release. You can look at the diff file
:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/30801086/compiz_1:0.8.2-0ubuntu15_1:0.8.2-0ubuntu16.diff.gz

For more informations about Cairo-Dock and its installation, look there
: http://www.cairo-dock.org/ww_page.php or https://edge.launchpad.net

Thanks for your help and for your great project !

Here two screencasts : http://videobin.org/+f6/hn.html (it's rarely ! =
2th seconds and at the end of the video but we don't see it well) and
http://videobin.org/+f7/hp.html (the use of Motion-Blur applet show us
better these flashes)
