mikey, The first problem is that compiz/unity thinks your hardware is too old to support Unity. That sounds wrong, so it's possible your nvidia driver is not installed properly. Try uninstalling and re-installing it. The second problem is that fallback mode is not working. For Mesa drivers that would be bug 1066764. However for proprietary drivers that is un-fixable. Sorry about not managing to post the result of the crash directly but compiz crashing seems to be preventing the report a problem dialogue from working.
