The stuff I was searching for was a little esoteric (my own
website, my husband's name) but Cuil found none of it. While
Google finds TONS of references.

  Not Cuil.

I didn't care for it's appearance at all but I do have to say that
in searching for my name it did as well as Google. I'm not
mentioned on the web much at all and the main reference to me it did
find tho it was down the list a ways. It actually had other
"Paula's" with different last names listed at the top.

No, not Cuil.

one of my biggest complaints with google is that they frequently do not produce
the website of the searched name. cuil does not seem to do any better.

I tried searching for something else and got results. But as I pressed
the next screen button I found that most of the results I saw on page 1
were also repeated on pages 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.

I also don't like the 3-column display. I can't scan that as quickly as a
single column, like Google. And I don't think that is just beause I'm
used to Google.

I heard a report from a "technology reporter" on CBS radio yesterday -
he was not at all impressed. Apparently the GUI is nice, but the rank
order is something of a mystery.

It seems to depend on what you search for. I can search for X and get
results, then search for Y and get "load too high". Then I can repeat that
as many times as I want and get the same results. I have a sneaky
suspicion

that "load too high" actually means "I didn't find anything".

I just tried and there are too busy for me, too.
