I bought mine from a vendor who had factory refurbished ones (before Minolta/Konica melted into Sony). I see several up on eBay in your range. There is quite a difference between the model 5400 and the 5400II inasmuch as the former is incandescently lit, has usb&firewire, and has 3 corrections schemes while the latter has fluorescent lighting, has usb, has 4 correction schemes, and a less touchy transport scheme. Mine is the model II. Both are likely good.
