In practice, when I connect my camera to my computer, I simply transfer all the pictures from the camera to the computer as a batch, disconnect/shut off the camera, and view the files on the computer using one of several photo viewers/editors. I think the memory makers were faster on the draw with this one...but yes there are wifi enabled cams I posted a link on another thread about sugarsync. This too is handy with phones as you can auto sync between cloud and your camera phone pictures. It will do it automagically and where ever you are, not just in bluetooth range of your computer. Take a couple shots while you are out and about...get home, leave your phone in your pocket and the pics have already been sync'd a folder. Handy. What happens if the wifi breaks on your camera? Will it still take pictures? At least this gives choice, imagine your wifi on the cam breaking, you can replace it easy by just buying a wifi enabled sd card. I use Bluetooth to transfer photos from my phone--fast, easy, at least for a 2 mpx camera phone, maybe not for 10 mpx camera or for video. Cell phone video transfers fast enough via BT, but they're only a minute or two long. Aren't there Bluetooth or WiFi enabled cameras? It makes so much more sense to have the wireless capability in the camera instead of the card. Is it really that complicated to remove the card and put it in a card reader or risk breaking your camera's USB/FW port with a cable? I'd rather remove the card [easy] than buy a dual card. What happens to the card when the WiFi breaks? Judy, The cards I saw were primarily for Palm devices and are much like the old wireless PC cards that that you would slide into the side of your laptop to connect it to a wireless network. It was not used for storage at all, just transferring data wirelessly. These WiFi-enabled SD memory card not only transfer data wirelessly, but can also store data. My son's HP digital will power down while I'm trying to transfer files causing the Mac to warn me that a volume has been improperly removed. They've been around a little while...seems like one more thing to drain the batteries doing something that isn't taking pictures. I still stand by using a small reader to plug just the card into a computer. Moving files off a camera in almost any fashion drains that battery fast. I think I would use it only when there was no other alternative. File sizes for video are going to be much larger.
