Re: [CGUYS] gmail replies
Correct. But for people coming from the Dark Ages of Eudora or (gasp) Outlook, we just don't believe our email *worked* unless we actually see our own returned email from the list. Yes, this means you have two copies. Yes, it's inefficient. And yes, I've gotten used to doing it the new way. I mean, who really cares if I forget to hit "send"? I send too gd much email out anyway. The List isn't going to miss it! 8) On Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 9:31 PM, John DeCarlo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Wait a second, as far as gmail goes. > You should see all your *replies*. Re: [CGUYS] gmail replies
I've been using gmail for years and it's now my main app for the largest percentage of my mail so I guess I don't see what the problem is. But, then again, I subscribe to the List by Digest which is much handier for me since I don't have to deal with bunchs of individuals msgs. Re: [CGUYS] gmail replies
Yeah, well, don't confuse them. First we'd like the ability to do offline backups (and no, I don't mean emailing all my saved messages to a POP account)! Re: [CGUYS] gmail replies
How can Google do that? Or why would they want to? It so arbitrary non- digital ... one is an outgoing mail and one is an incoming mail. They are two distinct critters with different senders and each conveys meta data or timing info information other than what is in the body of text. So we know our message got there and back and can know when to start expecting responses if any etc. Lot's of list-serves give you that configuration choice of not seeing your own post but you get the make the choice ... the default is to see your own post and you have to decide to choose otherwise. I have a gmail account but don't use it with lists so haven't observed the phenomenon you are talking about. I'm surprised that the Google tech people are thinking in such "fuzzy" ways... db John DeCarlo wrote: Wait a second, as far as gmail goes. You should see all your *replies*. Because they are automatically associated with the conversation already there. As for posts, it would be great if you could have filters on your sent mail, instead of just the inbox. The trick is that Gmail considers the message coming back from the list to be the same as the original posting and drops it. Wait a second, as far as gmail goes. You should see all your *replies*. Because they are automatically associated with the conversation already there. As for posts, it would be great if you could have filters on your sent mail, instead of just the inbox. The trick is that Gmail considers the message coming back from the list to be the same as the original posting and drops it. Re: [CGUYS] gmail replies
It's a "feature" of gmail. Nothing you can do on any list will make it work, I guess because Gmail's smarter than the lists. On Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 7:00 PM, John A. Re: [CGUYS] gmail replies
Exactly! Yes I'm relatively new. It's frustrating to have to go to my gmail inbox on the web to see if the post made it. There are lots of convenience advantages for me though.
