RE: Trying to run both Archiva and Continuum

2007-08-30 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,
Have a look here
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/maven/sandbox/trunk/enterprise/enterprise-runtime/pom.xml
 .

This is a project which build this type of distrib.

Use the correct version for war dependencies
(org.apache.maven.continuum:continuum-webapp and
org.apache.maven.archiva:archiva-webapp).

Look at the plexus.xml file [1] and add a component :

  org.codehaus.plexus.contextualizer.Contextualizer
  jettyConfiguration

org.codehaus.plexus.contextualizer.DefaultContextualizer

  8080

Hi,
Added in 1.1-beta-1.
But in your case will need some developpement.

Have you look at all available notifier impls :
- mail
- jabber
- wagon (send the build output file to the wagon url)
- irc

RE: How to import all modules of Maven 2 project

2007-08-19 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,

Adding support of Maven profiles in adding project won't be so hard.
But does this profile must be added automatically in the build definition ? (in
your case adding -Pallblocks in Arguments)
Can you fill an issue concerning this ?

I don't know if you need a workaround but a simple is to add in the machine you
use in the file ~/.m2/settings.xml :

...
allblocks
...

We gradually move modules into default build so situation improves but I fear
such a radical change is not an option for us, now.

That does not solve our problem because our root pom looks like this:

 blocks
 commons
 core
 tools
 dists

 core/cocoon-configuration/cocoon-configuration-api
 core/cocoon-configuration/cocoon-spring-configurator

core/cocoon-servlet-service/cocoon-servlet-service-components
 core/cocoon-servlet-service/cocoon-servlet-service-impl
 core/cocoon-servlet-service/cocoon-servlet-service-sample

The rest is defined in other poms, so I would have to create recursively
ci-pom.xml files or create one big, aggregated ci-pom.xml files. Second option
is not perfect because it still involves recursive, manual scanning. With help
of little scripting I could build some bash script but I would really like to
avoid doing this.

This involves writing custom Java app which is even worse IMO.

I'm wondering if adding support for Maven profiles to Continuum would be that
hard?

Thanks for answer.

2007-08-09 Thread LAMY Olivier
You're right the workflow to attached installation to a profile is actually
confusing.
It's fixed in trunk.
In beta-2, you will have an other option to automatically create a profile when
you create an installation.

Found the problem:

I did not fully configure the profile: it had no JDK installation assigned.
This is not very clear in the current documentation.

After fixing this the build succeeded and email were sent.

CONTINUUM-1374.

Simple workaround add a jdk to your profile.
Will be fix in beta-2.

Hi,

After installing continuum-1.1-beta-1 last week all went fine and I was very
pleased with the changes and new features.

We just discovered that since a few days we do not get email messages anymore.

The logs say: Error while generating mail contents. (Stack trace below)

I can send email from the Linux box continuum is running. I also got emails in
the beginning. I also restarted the server.

Where should I look to find out what causes the problem?

RE: Continuum 1.1-beta-1 profile does not seem to work

2007-08-09 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,

Until the next release, you have to use the following workflow :

Add installation (jdk1.6.0) -> Add profile (JDK1.6)->Edit profile->Add the new
installation from list

Here don't use the save button but go the Profile List with the link in the
left menu. [1]

You will see the profile with the attached installation.

Concerning IE, there is an issue it's fixed in trunk [2].

Hi, and sorry to disturb you again,
I see you understood my problem, I can't click on the save button, the NPE
appears before :
Add installation (jdk1.6.0) -> Add profile (JDK1.6)->Edit profile->Add the new
installation from list (I try but NPE here)

Am I the only one to have this problem?
I saw that there is a problem with IE, may be I have a problem with Firefox. In
fact, I have some minor problems with the webapp on Firefox:
logos don't appear on the right place and the size of the window is not
optimized whereas it is with IE. I installed Flash Player 8 but nothing has
changed... May be these problems are linked to the NPE? What do you think about
that?

Thanks,Rémi.

RE: Continuum 1.1-beta-1 profile does not seem to work

Just to be sure
Add installation (jdk1.6.0) -> Add profile (JDK1.6)->Edit profile->Add the
new installation from list

Here you click on save button ?

If yes the NPE is fixed in trunk and will be in beta-2.

new installation from list -> NPE

Have you tried with mvn 2.0.6 or 2.0.5 ?

What is your OS ?
If windows I think there is an issue with mvn.bat concerning cli return code
(MAVEN_TERMINATE_CMD ) (don't remember the issue id)

Hi !
I've just installed Continuum 1.1 beta1 and noticed a strange behaviour
when building my app. The thing is that continuum says it has built correctly,
but the build has failed because a dependency cannot be found in the
repository. See the attached image for this. I had to censor some fields of the
attachment because of confidentiality, but I can say that we're using maven
2.0.7 and a wagon version branched from the version you can see on the on the
screen shot.

Has this happened to some of you guys before ?

Regards

Will be fix in beta-2.

Hi,

After installing continuum-1.1-beta-1 last week all went fine and I was very
pleased with the changes and new features.

We just discovered that since a few days we do not get email messages anymore.

The logs say: Error while generating mail contents. (Stack trace below)

I can send email from the Linux box continuum is running. I also got emails in
the beginning. I also restarted the server.

Where should I look to find out what causes the problem?

Rewrite the end of the workflow ;-)

- Firefox
- Login as admin
- Profiles, add profiles, give a name, save
- Edit profile, add an installation, save -> NPE

But the profile is there with the installation. Note I never restarted the
service so it's maybe not saved at all (and in a transient cache or something).

RE: Continuum 1.1-beta-1 profile does not seem to work

2007-08-06 Thread LAMY Olivier
Afert adding installations to a profile don't use save but go to the profile
list page.
In fact, the workflow is a litte bit confusing here.

It will be fixed in beta-2 ( you have patch here :
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CONTINUUM-1361 )

Concerning IE, it's an issue (I have only tested with Firefox ;-) ), could you
add an issue ?

Objet : Continuum 1.1-beta-1 profile does not seem to work

Hi,

When using IE 6, I click the add button to add the installation in the profile,
it does not do anything.
When using Firefox, the add button works, but after save the profile and go
back to check the profile, the installation isn't included in the profile.
I am running in AIX, Is this because of my OS or has this happened to anyone
else?

Thanks.

Can you do :
- remove the SNAPSHOT version in the compiler (2.0.2 has been released)
- give os information
- the JAVA_HOME value in your system env (if a *n*x the value in the .profile )
- have you played with profile and attached a jdk to your build definition

Thanks,

Using a shell script /usr/bin/sh build.sh (the script runs mvn -U -
Dmaven.test.skip clean install), it works fine from the command line, but if I
put in continuum beta-1 as a shell project, it fails. I tried adding the

Any suggestion or idea?

Hi,
I'm happy with the new features in Continuum 1.1 beta about configurations of
different jdk/maven/ant versions and environment variables definition, but I
have a problem: I can't add any installation on a profile.
I created two installations, I can create a profile, I see the combo-box where
appear my two installations but when I click on the add-button, nothing happens!
Do I forget something? (I was on the admin account for all of these
operations)

Regards,
Rémi.

I'm having problems building 1.1-beta-1 (from tag). The problem is during
surefire test execution - 3 assertions fail within
MavenTwoContinuumProjectBuilderTest. The equality assertions on:

   testCreateProjectsWithModules (line 193)
   testCreateProjectsWithModuleswithParentPomIsntPomXml (line 287)
   testCreateProjectWithoutModules (line 377)

respectively are all receove expectation+1.

I'm really not sure why, and I will look into it later if I get a minute, but
I'm on a Macbook Pro (Mac OS 10.4.10) with Java 1.5.0_07 (Mac Runtime for Java
with Hotspot client VM)

Anyone else encounter this specific issue?

Christian.

I downloaded and tested Continuum 1.1 SNAPSHOT with very simple Ant script that
just executes /usr/bin/date and echoes the result. That gives wrong time with
1.0.3 but 1.1-SNAPSHOT gives correct time :)

So I'll just wait for 1.1 release. Thanks for the help!

Just one note about 1.1-SNAPSHOT. At first I created an Ant project and
assigned it to Default project group. But then that project sort of vanished..
I couldn't find it anywhere.

I then created one test group and added new identical Ant project to that
group. And that worked well.

Maybe there's something wrong if you add a project to the default group (which
doesn't seem to be group at all.. or it doesn't show up on Project Groups list).

RE: System time problem in Solaris 10 environment (Ant + Continuum)

p-u is plexus-utils.
A library which contains the code used to execute commandLine.

> it should log environment variables with 'debug' level
Yes sure could be nice help and could be added

I think somewhere here http://maven.zones.apache.org/ there are build from last
trunk version (sorry don't remember the exact path).
I'm sure Emmanuel know the exact path ? (Is this information available on the
continuum web site ?)

It looks similar, but I'n not exactly sure. We've only used Ant builds so far,
I'm not familiar with Maven. And I'm not sure how much I can test within our
production environment.

No, none.

Sorry, I don't follow you here. What is p-u?

> Can you test with current continuum trunk ?

I already fetched source from SVN and just looked at it a bit. But I'm not sure
how easy it would be to set that up. I'll have to see (and be carefull not to
mess with our production system). I'll have to see if I have enough time to set
up a separate environment for Continuum testing etc.

When looking at the source I think I saw that when command-line command is
executed, it should log environment variables with 'debug' level. I haven't
seen those variables in any logs with version 1.0.3.. maybe this has been added
later on..?

RE: System time problem in Solaris 10 environment (Ant + Continuum)

2007-07-05 Thread LAMY Olivier
Hi,
Related to this one http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/CONTINUUM-723 ?
Can you attached to this a simple ant test project ?
Does your .profile contains some settings related to TZ and/or LC_ ?

Maybe, it's related to the CommandLine version of p-u which badly set envVars
(I haven't tested this on the current trunk)

Can you test with current continuum trunk ?

Objet : System time problem in Solaris 10 environment (Ant + Continuum)

Hi,

We are having strange problem with system time with Continuum in Solaris 10
environment. Easiest way to verify existence of this problem is to add
following block to Ant build script and let Continuum to build/execute it.
""

What happens is that 'date' reports GMT time and not the correct local time.
This ONLY happens when Ant is executed through Continuum. If same Ant script is
executed as a standalone it reports the corret time.

This problem causes times to differ three hours in ZIP-archives that are
created using Ant's ZIP target. We've tried to enable full DEBUG logs with
Continuum but only thing that's visible is this:
"...ShellCommandHelper - Executing:
/usr/local/apache-ant-1.7.0/bin/ant -f Build/continuum-build.xml build".
From that you cannot see what shell is in use or other details that might
matter.

We've also added similar Ant exec calls to execute "set", "env" and "id"
commands and tried to verify if e.g. TZ variable differs. But all the variables
(LC_*, TZ) are same.

Any ideas how to solve this or how to find out where exactly the problem is?
Our guess is that it's related to way Continuum executes Ant as a shell command.

  Otto
