I attach you the *.pot file which has all the original strings.

do it; I'll then do a diff and change the sources.

Good evening, morning and afternoon,

Since I remember reading the French translation was left behind, I attach a
preliminary one. It's surely far from being perfect, but I know for
reviewing a lot of translations that it's easier to modify what is already
done than starting from scratch.

Just hope it's never misleading.

Re: [Cooker] Neomagic Video Issues?

1999-08-29 Thread Quel Qun

I have a XPi laptop and I have to modify manually the XF86Config at each
install. I gave up hoping that it could be one day automatically detected
and I don't let Xconfigurator probing anything.

Also, I use an external monitor to get a better definition, because linux
cannot (apparently) use a 1024x768 extended definition with a 800x600 LCD
screen like windows.

So, there are four things I have to find out or modify:

1. The monitor frequencies. You can set standard ones and tune it later with
xvidtune.
2. The video ram: 1 meg (which allows 8bpp at 1024x768)
3. The definition: I set to 8bpp with 1024x768
4. The "extern_disp" option has to be validated or else X dies.

Took me a while to figure that out, but it works.

One last thing. X (or I :) screws up something when it initializes, and
makes my screen totally red or green depending on the monitor. The colors
only come back when I start gnome-terminal (nearly only this program). Don't
ask me why I have no clue, surely a palette problem. The workaround is to
always let a gnome-terminal open when I leave X, even with KDE.

Hope it'll help,

Hello,
Has anyone else noted issues with Neomagic video cards. More specifically
the NeoMagic 2093. This is in my Dell XPI 133, that I do most of my testing
with. I have not tried yet with a newer Neomagic system (Dell CPi) What
happens is that during the start of phase 2 install, it dumps with
incorrect
video sync specs and stops, also it doesn't detect memory. I can give more
specifics when I am home and do more testing. Just looking to see if anyone
has tried it.
Thanks

[Cooker] Install fails at create bootdisk

1999-08-29 Thread Chris Lyttle

Hi
I have been trying unsuccessfully to get cooker to install. As I was unable
to get the new panoramix to install (due to my video card not being
recognised by panoramix, see my previous post) I am running through the old
method, RH type install script.
It fails every time on trying to install lilo or create a boot disk the rest
of the install seems to work ok. I downloaded the 6.1b last night so I will
see if that has the same problem.

really strange, i have no real clue... but i like it anyway ;-)

 - My parition table wasn't wiped! (Yay!)

 The bad news:

After choosing my root partition, it asks which paritions to format (just

 then got the following error:

I aborted at that point by hitting ctrl-alt-bs.

well, you have a console on (ctrl)-alt-F2, could you look what the problem may
be? it's been since i tested a hd install... must have broke something again :(
or maybe you don't have a full mirror?

  When it dropped back to
text mode, I noticed lots of "use of uninitialized variable" errors.
It "use strict" being used? Maybe some checks for "defined($var)" need to
 be added?

well, it takes time and sometimes dirty the code. But i try to remove them when
i do have the time.

Anyway, I'm a glutton for punishment. Let me know when this is fixed and
I'll give it another whirl. (I think I should order a tape backup system.

allow graphic install with SVGA only with no ramdisks.

Anyway, this problem needs solving. Maybe the FrameBuffer is another solution.

GG I'd like to see more configuration options in between. I remember when

GG

The comparison is unfair.

Well, sure, but imagine if Win98 included Photoshop and MS Office and MS
Visual Studio, and *also* WordPerfect Office and other competing programs.

That said, I agree that more gradations could be useful, but we have to be
careful not to offer so many choices that the new user gives up in
frustration, or chooses the wrong one for his needs.

However, I'm not sure I like the idea of separate choices for KDE vs
GNOME... I use GNOME for my desktop environment, but kppp for dialup, and
when KOffice is officially released, I may use some of its apps as well.

Hi!

I just wanted to inform you that MySQL 3.20.32a was released as GPL at
1999-08-22. (http://www.mysql.com/news.html). This means that
MySQL (at least this version:) is now Open Source.

You can run all new MySQL clients (which are in public domain) against
this version!

We will continue to release older releases of MySQL as GPL from time
to time...

No, because I want to include mod_ssl, and the export regulations are
tricky. Right now, MandrakeSoft France can't distribute it. Neither from the
US: there's still the RSA patent, so it's not legal to use the standard
mod_ssl in the US.

It will have to come from either MandrakeSoft in Germany or NetRevolution in
Canada. And for US-Based customers, I'll have to consult with a lawyer and
check with RSA for the license.

In the meantime, the e-commerce packages will be available for download

I considered the 'add a user' step on the text mode install a wastful thing
as it allowed to add only one user while it is really very usual to have
more than one.

Otherwise i can loop on `Add a user' until Cancel is clicked...

What about changing the buttons ? Having something 'Add this user' (will add
