I installed mod_perl-1.22, and that solved half of the
problem.

Now it is failing on mod_ssl; I guess we need new
mod_ssl packages:

one reason why i like linux. linux is quite blunt instead of windowz which
gives you an OE error and a "nice blue screen".

[Cooker] ancient gnome-toaster-19991011-2mdk

2000-04-12 Thread Andreas Simon

Hello!

Gnome Toaster from November 1999 ...
Now this is realy ancient. And besides:
This old version is *very* buggy.
An update would be a very fine thing.

[Cooker] kde or not kde

2000-04-12 Thread OS

Why is it every time I upgrade to the latest KDE all the menus are deleted.
Sometimes even after the applnk's have been restored they are removed without
having to upgrade KDE. (I haven't discovered the steps required to reproduce
this.) I've tried using update-menus, but I'm not sure how to drive this or if
it is designed for use with KDE, but anyway it doesn't work !

Even if update-menus is supposed to be used isn't it a bit presumptuous to
assume that all the applnk's can simply be removed regardless of what mime
types or applnk's the user may have defined.

This has been happening for the last several versions of KDE.

Thanks,
Owen

Re: [Cooker] Netscape 6.0: Pre-Release

2000-04-12 Thread OS

I've now read several mails about Netscape 6. I've tried it on both Mandrake
and NT. It sucks !!! You're much better off getting the latest nightly build
from Mozilla !

The main problems with Netscape 6 / Mozilla appears to be

1) No java support for the Linux version, the NT version is shipping with Sun
JRE 1.3 beta ! These people really support Linux, I don't think.

2) There are no plugins available yet. If there ever will be is a good
question. According to the latest from Mozilla there is going to be a new
plugin engine that won't be backwards compatible. Will people write brand new
plugins just for Mozilla ? Only if it takes off big time, so don't hold your
breath. Couple this with M$ latest attempt to de-rail other browsers /
platforms by declaring non compliance with W3C standards from now on and it all
appears to be a bit of a gamble ?!?!

found in %pre of linuxconf:

if [ -f /etc/inittab.old ] ; then
cp /etc/inittab /usr/lib/linuxconf/uninstall/inittab.beforeupgrade
mv -f /etc/inittab.old /etc/inittab

maybe that's the pb?

Hi,

I thought I'd share an error that occured during installation.
Situation: installing via ftp (ftp.sunet.se) on an intel based
system.

Here are the details:

* Setting up swapspace on /dev/sda1 version 1, size = 254947328 bytes
* warning: Search pattern not terminated at (eval 206) line 101,
chunk 1.
* Bad kickstart file /mnt/root/auto_inst.cfg.pl (failed Search pattern
not terminated at (eval 206) line 101, chunk 1.
)
* warning: can't open /etc/raidtab for reading: No such file or
directory
* step `formatPartitions' finished
* starting step `choosePackages'
* warning: nothing found while parsing
/mnt/var/lib/urpmi/hdlist.http1.cz2 at /usr/bin/perl-install/pkgs.pm
line 370.
* starting step `doInstallStep'

* writing host information to /mnt/etc/hosts
* opened /mnt/root/install.log

Please switch to console 2 (using ctrl-alt-f2)
and look at the log file /tmp/ddebug.log

Consoles 1,3,4,7 may also contain interesting information at
/usr/bin/perl-install/install_steps.pm line 253.

I was afraid of that . :(

 Looks like another last-chance to get Cooker working
again before disconnecting from cable modem
and returning to phone-line rural-connection
upon relocation to the Alaskan interior from Juneau.

What series or single -Uvh rpm would most likely cause this
to happen from a functioning L-M 7.0/Cooker of last week
to a lost /etc/inittab and frozen Cooker of today ...???

This would be a big help to me in the future where
2.2kps connections are considered normal.

NetBSD last night. Can someone point me to Makefile documentation, so
maybe I can get this Makefile to work without GNU make?
