Awaiting for FrontPage2002 server extensions support in Advanced Extranet server I've
installed FrontPage2000 server extensions + mod_frontpage into Linux Mandrake 8.1 and
Apache 1.3.20 web server.
I've installed them into my web site. Theese components are properly running in "root
web" and users "sub-webs". All requests from FrontPage client(s) to "root web" and
users "sub-webs" are authorized and secure.
If anybody is intrested how to do that I can describe in the near future.

Eduardas

The startup window title in Linux for Windows installation is still "Linux Mandrake

[Cooker] Squid problem

2000-05-26 Thread Eduardas Paulavicius

Hi,
I downloaded the 7.1 beta3 CD and performed upgrade from 7.0

Now I have the problem starting Squid version 2.3.STABLE2.

Executing: /etc/rc.d/init.d/squid start
> Starting squid: init_cache_dir /var/spool/squid... squid
* FATAL: Unknown cache_dir type '/var/spool/squid'
*
* Squid Cache (Version 2.3.STABLE2): Terminated abnormally.
* CPU Usage: 0.010 seconds = 0.010 user + 0.000 sys
* Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
* Page faults with physical i/o: 188

The usage of "cache_dir" option has been changed since they have a storage interface
API.

What type of storage system I now need to specify to use with the cache directory ?

Thanks,
Eduardas

[Cooker] Linuxconf

2000-05-09 Thread Eduardas Paulavicius

Hi,

The Mandrake 7.1 custom server installation doesn't install the "linuxconf" by default
(?)
The tool like "linuxconf" is very useful for me and I must install it manually every
time I install Mandrake 7.1

In some text mode menus "linuxconf" tries to display windows wider then the screen
width is. Therefore the ending symbols of each line are wrapped to the beginning of
the next line.
For the first time this bug I saw in RedHat 6.2 and Mandrake 7.0 and now in Mandrake
7.1
Example:
Control/Control files and systems/Configure Linuxconf nodules/
"Error
Dialog too wide: Max_prompt = 13 Max_field = 74"

In "linuxconf" Control/Package management (RPM)/Preferences the wrong (?)
"/mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS" directory is set. Wouldn't be nice to see the Mandrake
directory there :)

Thanks,
Eduardas

[Cooker] Partitioning problem

2000-05-08 Thread Eduardas Paulavicius

Hi,

I have a 3GB (3098 MB) IDE drive of type ST3321A:
128 heads, 63 sectors, 787 cylinders

I tried to perform server installation in expert mode.
In Setup filesystems stage I cleared all partitions and let Auto allocate them.
The partitioning program gave me strange results - some partition sizes (in sectors)
and Start sector numbers were fractional !

When I tried to format these strange partitions:
"An error occurred
ext2 formatting of hda8 failed."

After this, I deleted all partitions, and created the new ones of the same size in MB
(as were previously calculated) manually.
The sizes in sectors and Start sector numbers were OK (without decimal values beyond
the point).
The formatting also was OK.
