[Cooker] ATI Radeon 2 QD - XFree86 problems
Beta 4 issue: Don't know if this is the same issue as the 3D Rage Pro, but while configuring with X4.2.0 the test screen works fine within DrakX. Reboot and get a black XFree with mouse movement, but everything else is locked up. Also gave an error saying /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.o unresolvable. radeon_drv.o is there and the driver under X is "radeon" also. Try looking for libglib1.2-devel, I have it installed from a few days with a fresh cooker install. RE: [Cooker] devfs & my cd-rw ide device
I've tried out 2 CD-RW Drives, one being a Philips CDD-3610 and the other being a HP 7200 Series (HP C4380-56000). This is what I did to both and have got no progress: - I did hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc to turn off dma for this device - I added devfs=nomount to lilo.conf and hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc - I also echo -n "using_dma:0" > /proc/ide/ide1/hdc/settings and also did a hdparm -d0 /dev/hdc to make sure it was off It starts burning anywhere from the 5meg to 50meg mark using cdrecord, then it dies, hard locking the system. [Cooker] Gnome FIle Manager
A little while ago I found out that by making a 'Documents' directory within a users home created a button withing gnome while using 'Open', 'Save', 'Save As'. By default there is 'Home' and 'Desktop' buttons, if that directory is there a new button will appear called Documents. Maybe cooker can utilize this for the desktop user by creating a Documents directory when creating a new user? Just a thought. -- Gary Chisholm System: Mandrake Linux Cooker-i586 20011214 14:49 2.4.16-9mdk

[Cooker] Total Lockups
Over the last few months I was thinking that my hds were bad, so I did replace them, I've installed Mandrake Linux Cooker for the last few months along with Beta 1 and now Beta 2, and I am still having compleate lock up in X. Even on a restart my nvidia drivers dont stay, I have to re-install the NVIDIA_kernel ones each time on reboot. Is this just me or is anyone else having this problem? This issue only happens in cooker/betas of 8.1, Linux Mandrake 8.0 runs fine and also I installed a few other distros for a test run to see if it was anything else.
