I currently have DSL installed at home, with 5 static IP's. I plugged in
the information for networking, and everything worked fine for me. My

If there is a way for me to help, please let me know.

[Cooker] Adduser utilities

2000-01-05 Thread James Jennison

One thing I was wondering about the adduser utilitird was if there was a way
to have it specify in a config file that you want to use letterhomes...ie:

/export/home/f/fizban

Is there a way to set this up? And to have it ask you for more information
if you are doing everything from command line?

If not, do you think this might be able to be incorporated into future
versions of Mandrake?

Thanks.

All values are set to -1 because you don't need to specify any IO or
IRQ for your card...

Just press 'Test' to check if you hear the sample and 'Ok' to write
configuration(ok performs a test too)

For some reason, identd does not want to work with my current Mandrake 7.0b.
I just installed from the images I made with oxygen-3. It worked fine with

Instead of giving you every single file, I will state that it did this for
every single package I had installed on the system. I don't pretend to
understand why it is doing this, only that it is.

Also, when I upgraded, it asked me if I wanted to keep my current IP
configuration, and I stated "yes". However, when I went to download the
cryprographic packages, I got this error:

* resolved ftp.sunet.se in
* warning: Net::FTP: Bad peer address ...propagated at
/usr/bin/perl-install/ftp.pm line 41.

When I finished the install and rebooted my system, I also noticed that
the upgrade had re-written my network settings, so that they defaulted
back to localhost.localdomain. Any reason why this happened?

I thank you for your time, and I do apologize for writing such a long

VMWare it's a x86 virtual machine working under linux
or windows Nt and you can run many operating system in
the virtual machine take a look at www.vmware.com

Anyway, all the LexMark printer are winprinter.

I write a lot of email to the customer support and
sales support at lexmark.com and they said that
Lexmark don't want to make driver for Linux even if
they are an IBM company and even if IBM invest a lot
of money in Linux.

People are so strange sometime ;-)

Is everyone having problems downloading the oxygen or is it just me. I
have probably tried to download the dist 100 times since Thursday with 4
different ftp sites. I keep getting errors and it downloads some files
and then it deletes (unlinks) other files...

Whenever it tells me that there are no more files to download then I try
a network install. I can get as far as the second stage and then it
craps out and tells me it is unmounting everything and rebooting. I can
download the second stage.

I am using mirror, I have not had a problem with it before. Here is my
configuration file:

package=mirror
comment=The Mirror Package
#site=rpmfind.net
site=ftp.sunet.se
#site=csociety-ftp.ecn.purdue.edu

# This setting of local_dir is suitable for Un*x
local_dir=/mirror/mandrake/oxygen

Any helpful hints would be appreciated! TIA!!

RE: [Cooker] First report from a upgrade Mandrake 6.1 -> Mandrake 7.0

I must also concur. The install process was extremely slow for me, however,
I love the new GUI interface. This has made it easier for me and my
roommate (who knows nothing about Linux) to install it on both of our
machines. I hope to keep seeing these improvements over time as Mandrake
continues to grow and develop.

I agree with you too. As far as easy linux installations go Mandrake
passes even RedHat. My only problem with Mandrake is it doesn't run on a
386. :(
When it came to setting up PPP Mandrake was easy. :) Hope to see that it
remains that way, like there is any doubt ;).
