[Cooker] Boot stalls at "INIT: version 2.83 booting" [pieter78]
Hi, Finally I installed the final version, now with this problem... RC3 stalled one line earlier (freeing unused kernel memory: 136k freed)... dunno how to solve this (except RH8 maybe ;-) ). Any ideas. Btw: you know more about this stuff than I do... sound on my desktop (final version) is just shit, very much noise... RC3 had no problems on this. Where can I fix that (using kde)? Regards, Pieter

No, I did a cd install too (RC3)... btw, "floppy"... somewhere I recognize the word, but perhaps you could describe what it exactly meant... ;-) Pieter -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Buchan Milne Sent: donderdag 26 september 2002 18:55 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Cooker] 3com 3c589c [pieter78] Pieter Kubben wrote: > Indeed, 3c589c is a PCMCIA 10Mbit combo ethernet card... [Cooker] USB Mouse problem [pieter78]
Hello, I'll have another try, problem is still not solved... I am using USB mouses in RC3, that are not automatically recognized (they were during install) If I mess something in Harddrake / mouseconfig as a user, unplug and replug mouse, and log out, it suddenly works during my next session, but if I log out, everything suddenly stops again. (as a root, I have never been able to use my mouse) Harddrake keeps saying it is a ps/2 or serial, although I entered "microsoft explorer" or "wheel" in the usb category. Any idea how to solve this? Regards, Pieter

[Cooker] USB mouse(s) have very strange behaviour [pieter78]
Hi, This question is for my desktop-system: I am using 2 usb-mouses, 1x Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical, 1x Wacom Graphire. RC3 recognized the ms-mouse perfectly during install and I worked fine with it. Then, in kde it does not work. Mousedrake/mouseconfig does not really change anything... in Harddrake it is either known as ps/2 (psaux) of serial (the ttsy-something).. never as usb. But... if I boot Linux, unplug&plug the ms-mouse, mess something in config and log out (autologin enabled), then suddenly it all works (wacom included, without extra driver, my compliments for that)... until I log out again (or restart) then everything is disabled again... as a root, I have never worked with the mouse, and as a user, only sometimes - if I am lucky, because I do not now what exactly triggers it to work. I am doing some sort of ritual dance, at least it looks like it when I read all above... why can't it work normally ALL the time... I might try with disabling auto-install, if I knew where to find that... And saving the session does not make any difference, I noticed... This is really annoying, does someone have an answer? Regards, Pieter

[Cooker] eth0 (isa pnp 3com 509 nic)
Hello all my current place is that eth0 fails during boot, after boot doing a modprobe 3c509 and the eth0 is working, but not like it should. No ip address assigned if i do that manually (even if the adapter needs dhcp) i can ping outside my network. But dns (even if i entered nameserver in resolve.conf) doesnt work. So im getting a crippled eth0, and no Internet connection. While i think it should work ?? regards, Pieter
