kernel compile from source does not seem to make a valid kernel. Does some
one have the .config files that are used in the making of the various
kernels from distrobution as RPM's?

I have solved the issue for power issues. Disabling SMP support and enabling APM works
and for vga= 788 issue you have got to enable FrameBuffer support in console
drivers

Same here, I have set the Real Mode Power Off option to "n" (the same
as in the 2.4.8-26mdk original kernel which came with 8.1 and this
one powers off fine on my laptop as well). The only difference on
my system is that APM is a module and not part of the kernel. Does
it really needs to be in the kernel so shutdown works ? (Bloatware
alert ;-)

I couldn't check 2.4.17, as it still does not boot...

Hi!

I have LM 8.1 and I've upgraded galeon to this version.

Before that i'e upgraded to that packages:
mozilla0.9.7-1mdk
libpng3-1.2.0-3mdk
libnspr4-0.9.7-2mdk
libnss3-0.9.7-2mdk

But when i try to run galeon i got segfault :( and mozilla runs good...

Another problem i've got with previous upgrade is malfunction of kups
(kups1.1-11mdk): conflicts with libpng. It seems that kups still use previous
version of libpng that comes with LM 8.1 (libpng2-1.0.12-2mdk)

Any tip to solve that problems?

Greets,

[Cooker] Kernel Compiling and Power Issues help needed!

2002-01-10 Thread eric cartman

Hi all cookers I got a question for you about kernel compiling.

I use cooker-kernel 2.4.16 adn hand-compiled (from tar.gz not src.rpm) 2.4.18pre2 but
when I boot into 2.4.18 when I say shutdown it says power down but it doesnt power
off.It just sits there.

But when I boot into cooker kernel it just shutdown fine and power off.So what I want
to know what option do you enable when you compile kernel for cooker?

And second question although i eneabled video mode selection in kernel it doesnt boot
when I choose vga=788 option.Anyone have idea about these two problems?

Thanks to you all in advance...

But how? I already updated urpmi from cooker mirror

[Cooker] Urpmi problems

2001-12-20 Thread eric cartman

I added ftp.uninett.no in rpmdrake as an external source so now when i
try
urpmi --auto-select
I got Everything already installed.
So i tried
urpmi -v

And I got a long list of this
**
unable to analyse synthesis data of intimed
unable to analyse synthesis data of sgml-tools
unable to analyse synthesis data of libpgsql2
unable to analyse synthesis data of tetex-latex
unable to analyse synthesis data of kmago
unable to analyse synthesis data of kdegames
unable to analyse synthesis data of evolution-pilot
unable to analyse synthesis data of eog
unable to analyse synthesis data of perl-Tie-TextDir
unable to analyse synthesis data of procmail
unable to analyse synthesis data of qiv
unable to analyse synthesis data of smpeg-player
unable to analyse synthesis data of libbonobo2-devel
unable to analyse synthesis data of chromium
unable to analyse synthesis data of gnome-vfs
unable to analyse synthesis data of ocamltk
unable to analyse synthesis data of libpcre0
unable to analyse synthesis data of libeel0-devel
unable to analyse synthesis data of libdb3

And list goes on and on last line I got :
read synthesis file [/var/lib/urpmi/synthesis.hdlist.Norway.cz]
I saved source labeled Norway.

So what do you think is the solution?

Thanks for your reply. Now I disabled supermount with supermount -i
disable and all problems gone but now when I ty to mount cdrom with

  mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

I got this error

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

I can mount floppy without a problem though.

And here is my /etc/fstab :

/dev/hda1 / ext2 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0

Ok here I got a com plex issue I will try to be clear...

Whenever
1-I install an rpm file
2-Downloading a File (In the finish sequence)
3-Move mouse over floppy icon on my kde desktop

My system tries to mount floppy and tries to mount CD-ROM (I know it
tries to mount cd-rom too because when I play a music CD music stops
suddenly)

So what do you think the problem can be?

Spesifications
