[Cooker] [Bug 4576] [evolution] Evolution badly translates character sets when fetching mail from server
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4576 [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What|Removed |Added Status|ASSIGNED|RESOLVED Resolution||FIXED --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-09 16:05 --- Fixed in evolution-1.4.4-5mdk -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: RESOLVED creation_date: description: Evolution seems to transform the charset of some of the messages I fetch from my IMAP mailbox. It is hard to describe, thus I am going to show the differences between what's stored on the server and what ends up in my evolution display. The example concerns specifically one mail ; I list all headers and just the first paragraph of the body. You'll see that : 1. The original "content-type" header is replaced by another one which appears at the bottom of the headers 2. The mail body is wrongly translated in utf-8 characters (French accents) whereas the "content-type" header still indicates iso-8859-1. The "quoted-printable" encoding makes this quite clear (French accents are one byte in iso-8859-1, and two in utf-8) The net effect is that some of my e-mails become unreadable (broken French accents). [Cooker] [Bug 4576] [evolution] Evolution badly translates character sets when fetching mail from server
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4576 [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO Ever Confirmed||1 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-22-08 17:06 --- Just tried with other ISO8859-1 quoted printable mails using IMAP server, no problem.. But mail you pasted here may broken (probably by original mail sender). I need a BINARY copy of this mail (attached here using "Create a New attachment") otherwise I will not be able to duplicate the problem. Evolution handles all mail internally in UTF-8 format. For IMAP messages, since they are not stored locally, "Display Message source" displays Evolution internal representation of the message, which can be somehow different from original message stored on IMAP server". This is not a problem for the Content-Encoding header since RFC 2045 specifies it is case-insensitive. Standard view should still display the message in the correct encoding. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: NEEDINFO creation_date: description: Evolution seems to transform the charset of some of the messages I fetch from my IMAP mailbox.
