[Cooker] [Bug 4686] [drakxtools] confusing chipset selection behavior
http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4686 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-12-08 19:48 --- I should mention as well that I've been using 24-bit color in all cooker updates and beta/RC installs since Mdk 9.0. No noticable problems with artifacts (as I understand the meaning) at any of those times. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: When using XFDrake (and during the install), my ThinkPad 390X's video card appears to be correctly identified automatically. However, there are two similar-but-different choices among the four under the NeoMagic heading: (laptop/notebook) and MagicMedia (laptop/notebook). On initial install, MagicMedia (laptop/notebook) is automatically selected. However when returning later in XFDrake, (laptop/notebook) is always selected upon load. No matter how often I change the setting to MagicMedia (laptop/notebook) and save, upon returning to XFDrake the shorter entry is selected instead. This may be purely cosmetic; I haven't looked at the configuration files to see if the underlying settings actually differ. However, because XFDrake is aimed at a less-experienced audience, this behavior should probably be corrected. This bug has been around since release 9.0, but I thought I'd bring it up now since 9.2 is the tidy things up release.

http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4686 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-12-08 19:45 --- Replying to Comment #2 from Buchan: I don't see any artifacts, at least not when using Gnome. I'm very happy in 24- bit color (when I tried RH, it didn't give me that option and I always wondered why). Or maybe I should ask, what did you mean by artifacts? I don't have a problem with blocks of pixels left behind on window drags/individual pixels not being updated in animations, nor do I see random colors when text is antialiased. Or did you mean another type of artifact? -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: When using XFDrake (and during the install), my ThinkPad 390X's video card appears to be correctly identified automatically. http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4686 --- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-12-08 19:37 --- lspcidrake gives this information for the video card: Card:NeoMagic (laptop/notebook): Neomagic Corporation|[MagicGraph 256AV] [DISPLAY_VGA] (vendor:10c8 device:0005 subv:1014 subd:0137) The name MagicGraph is correct, according to IBM's specifications for the 390X (and also Windows XP's driver info). After a visit to NeoMagic's Flash- heavy site, however, I see that they consider the 256AV to be a part of their MagicMedia line. Hmm. Anyway, I see now that I shouldn't have expected XFDrake to identify it as MagicMedia after all. Instead, perhaps an entry for MagicGraph (laptop/notebook)? -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --- Reminder: --- assigned_to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: UNCONFIRMED creation_date: description: When using XFDrake (and during the install), my ThinkPad 390X's video card appears to be correctly identified automatically.
