I should point out that sound on my system is FUBAR'd since installing 2.4.21 on 9.0, it can't make up its mind between OSS and ALSA and keeps loading a few modules from one, a few from another... Soundwrapper apparently works only if you use OSS (or alsa's OSS emulation).
