Right, I figured out that much.

What else am I supposed to read? I read the attached
file. It seemed to list sound cards and then modules
to use for those cards.

Babelfish has no idea what you just said :o)

Well like you said, the file you pasted was from CVS
of the real thing.

Sorry, I may have misinterpreted what the source was
saying.

Ok, I probably misinterpreted it. I don't mean to be
overly critical of you or piss you off or anything,
and I'm sorry if I come off that way :o(

ok, let's explain.
someone complained that his sound card wasn't detected.
the fact is that drakx needs list_module.pm to list all kernel modules
from the pcitable.
but some of the newly added modules were missing from list_modules.pm,
hance the "not detected" sound card.
i added them in cvs; with the drakx uploaded by pixel yesterday, this
should install smoothly.

then you came and you write stupids statements from something you
obviously haven't read the source; instead of reading the source, you
cry that i force people to use alsa instead of alsa.

i may have been crude but i dislike what we called in french "melanger
les tomates et les salades".

what the link between a bug report and me forcing you do to something ?

what the links between list_modules.pm that must list all modules used
in drakx's pcitable and the "secret plan" to force people to use alsa ?

I'll just chip in here with my two pence. I use es1371 with OSS with no
problems. I have to load it with option "joystick=1" to get my joystick
working. With the ALSA drivers I have no joystick, so I get annoyed when
ALSA is chosen for me too.

No, seriously Thierry, explain yourself. I've been
using the OSS modules with these cards for 3.5 years,
no problems ever, and the cards are fully supported.
ALSA has problems (mixer problems, having to load 50
modules just for freakin' sound).

I know you like ALSA, but you're being overzealous
with your support here. Please save it for later.

It looks like this breaks your explanation here. You
said only cards that aren't supported by OSS or the
OSS module has problems use ALSA, but it looks like
from this file here, you're trying to use ALSA for
cards for which that isn't the case, for example the
es1370/es1371 and others.

[Cooker] Cooker] Beta3 - Sound card detection

2002-08-18 Thread bko

The installation of Beta3 went quit
well except of the sound card detection.
Beta1 and 2 worked very well but not
Beta3. I have a Sound Blaster Live Value Digital 1024 installed.
When I run sndconfig the card is detected
but after hitting OK it says "Sound Blaster Live Value not supported
"
Any suggestions?
