Re: [Cooker] First Time Wizard won't use BB as default
Did it create a file called .desktop in your home directory? Does it contain: DESKTOP=blackbox ? If not, that's what it was supposed to do. You can do it manually. --- Forest C. [Cooker] First time wizard (KPersonalizer) work around
A few things: 1) installing The first message you see when installing reads something like: You are starting with an alternitave booting method. Please change the disk and insert the instalation disk I read this and thought I incorrectly numbered the cd-r's, but I didn't, so you are told to change disks when booting with the correct disk. The instalation disk is also the only disk that gives that warning. Maybe a re-wording would be in order there. 2) creating an account Maybe some other default icons in userdrake (I know that is a pretty minor detail though) 3) Running KDE (also most important) The KDE KPersonalizer first time wizard runs every time. It ran every time when I was running the first stable release on MDK 8.2, and it runs every time in 3.0.2 on beta 1. The temporary workaround for this is to go into /home/YOU/.kde3/share/config/kpersonalizerrc and add the following 2 lines [General] FirstLogin=False -Dana

Anyway, what can I do to correct it? keld

[Cooker] First time wizard
Hi VERSION (rsync ftp.sunet.se) /ChangeLog/1.592/Sun Sep 23 19:40:28 2001// Mandrake Linux Cooker-i586 20010923 21:42 OK - I tried it out, and I found an explanation that could sell nearly anything. I might have read it in a non observant manner, but I think it would be better if the relevant hardware data, was shown to the user prior to transmitting it. As it is now, some folks might start guessing what the hell you sucked out of the box. Microsoft once asked me if I wanted to register my copy ( a pirated one 1995) of MSWord, when I was to download a service pack. Scary things when others are waccum cleaning your hard drive. In this form, I have to say - never more. The program ought to be able to get rid of Netscape, after reporting a successful transmission. As it is now, it has to be closed manually. It is a pity that the program is unaware of the keyboard being used when the data is transformed to KMail - the 'umlaut' ö (o with two dots) was transformed into nothing. I dont know if that is an evaluation. regards guran -- Mandrake Linux 8.1 beta Cooker kernel-2.4.8-26 vers:1.592
[Cooker] first time wizard in russian locale
First time wizard is not translated (at least in Russian. Other languages?). It makes it only marginally useful for us. In any case, it is very unlikely that anybody in Russia will buy the same Mandrake packs as are sold in other world. We currently have revived Mandrake Russian Edition 8.0 (from ALT I guess), but that's not the same and they sell own packs. I just hope they will continue it (I have not seen there distro). I do not immediately suggest removing wizard for us. I hope there are more Russians listening to this list to say there words.
