It needs the same hack as mozilla does when compiled with gcc-3.x.
That is part of Konqueror soruces on mainline, but not the 3.0.x branch.

What is exactly needed for having flash inside konqueror?
i have mozilla installed , libflashplayer.so and ShockwaveFlash.class in
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.1b/plugins

I try http://mamaeditions.com/03pollen.swf with mozilla, it works fine
(using about - plugins, I see I'm using the plugin)
I try with konqueror:
configure, look for netscape plugins , external modules after adding the
path /usr/lib/mozilla-1.1b/plugins and pressing search new external
modules, I see one entry with the good path etc ...

doing konqueror http://mamaeditions.com/03pollen.swf;
don't work:
unable to load plugin is written, and in shell:

Well, I have never been able to get flash (or java either really) to
work with konqueror. Not even with the newest version. I have given up
and decided that it just wont work with konq. I have moved to mozilla
instead.

I really like(d) konqueror, but it needs some polishing up around the
edges (and be update more often). but who am i to complain... i couldnt
even begin to make a web browser :-).

There is a workaround, but it's not exactly easy.

See this message on the Gentoo forums:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=4753

But the proper way would be for Macromedia to recompile their plugins;
while they're at it they could upgrade to a recent ESD library, and
provide some sound server options (arts, alsa, ...).

They could also upgrade their plugin format to that of Mozilla so that
scripting would work.

Well ... not holding my breath.

Another, probably unrelated thing, when you don't have
the flash plugin installed, hitting a page with a
flash thing on it last night, Konq opened 4 windows to
the download site at the same time, all w/out asking
me.

My understanding is because they were compiled with different c++
libs/compilers, so until macromedia compiles a new version it probably will
remain broken for konqueror.

Hmmm ! May have mislead there. I don't usually browse with konqueror. I tried
again with konqueror from kdebase-2.1-6mdk, and it now just freezes solid at
the first sign of a Flash movie ! I'm sure it did work :-(

Since konqueror and kmail I use no more netscape.
The pb with konq is that it segfaults when loading /usr/bin/nspluginviewer.
Wihen tryng netscape there seems no pb.
