Good ;-)

Now... about the other 2 issues I mentioned: Am I really the only one
with
this weird kdm problem? Am I really the only one running NIS / NFS /
autofs?

I can trell you a little bit about this one. It seems 7.1 will use a new
thing called "menu" apparently from Debian. All apps have not been
converted, which is why the menus are so empty. i.e. I think the normal
KDE menu entry is removed and instead placed on the main Mandrake branch
in your KDE menu. Personally, I think even this sucks. I am so sick of
apps either 1) not having a menu entry, or 2) having 3 or 4 menu entries
under different menu branchs. Please fix this for 7.1! I would like ass
many apps as possible, and only one icon for each. For example, in 7.0,
with kappfinder, it is possible to have 1) a KDE menu entry 2) a GNOME
menu entry 3) a kappfinder entry 4) I wmconfig entry 5) a menuy
entry. Here I see 5 possible icons for the same package :( It seems
kappfinder is not in the latest kdebase package.. but still, some programs
don't even have 1 entry, and like I said, some have close to 5 entries
under different branches.

[Cooker] KDM exit code 2816

2000-03-29 Thread Stefan van der Eijk

Hi,

I've just installed cooker, and I'm having some issues:

1) KDM exits with the following message in the /var/log/messages:
kdm[3573]: Unknown session exit code 2816 from process 3581

2) This system is a client in a NIS / NFS / automount environment.
After booting, users don't get their homedir right away, I first
have to login as root and restart autofs. (Mandrake 7.0 works
fine).

3) The KDE menus seem _very_ empty by default. It seems that only
the "extra" installed apps are in it, the default KDE ones aren't
(even stuff like kappfinder, the kde console, kedit etc. etc.)

I thought I'd just let y'all know...

Stefan
