Better use aumix instead of gmix, gmix has some strange problems with
saving mixer preferences (at least when I last tried it).
Also use /etc/init.d/alsa(sound) restart to save the mixer settings
globally.

I dont have alsa on this computer but at home I had to increase volume
with gmix first to hear anything. Alsa sets volume to zero by default.

[Cooker] MDK8.2 beta2 usbmouse and sound issues

2002-02-12 Thread Rene Schumann

Hi!

I use an Asus A1200 Notebook with SIS630 Chipset.

If i plugin a usbmouse und boot, kudzu find and configures it.
It changes the symbolic link /dev/mouse from the old build-in PS/2 Mouse
to /dev/usbmouse.
After this the build-in mouse is deaktivated until next reboot without
the usbmouse.

I think this could be handled better.
There could be a static Inputdevice Configpart in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
for USB Mouse. like this :

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "USB Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "SendCoreEvents""true"
Option "Device""/dev/usbmouse"
Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

And kudzu shouldnt change the /dev/mouse link. Only the /dev/usbmouse
link.
This Way, both mouse could do is job the same time.
I have worked this way several month without Problems.
Debian use this way too.

Sound:

I dont have any Sound on my Laptop.
It seems that alsa is right configured but it dosnt work (with windows
sound works).
