Why? You can use virtual screen space and/or ALT-drag to access whatever you need in the window. Who runs their desktop in 640x480, anyway? A 640x480 mode to control center could be done, but we have many other things to do before this :-/

I'm not quite up to speed with Unix GUIs, and didn't realize that (thanks to the other person who pointed this out as well). I just reported it as a usability issue, but I agree with Pixel's assessment that it's probably not worth pursuing.

[Cooker] Mandrake Control Center unusable at 640x480
In a related problem, I reported that my 1280x1024 display was coming up as 640x480. In trying to use the Hardware/Resolution area of MCC to check what I had entered, I found that the configuration window is so large that the selection boxes for OK/CANCEL are off the bottom of the screen, as is the destroy window (X) icon on the titlebar at the right. The only way to get out was to open System/Console and kill MCC.
