It impacted the following packages: fetchmailconf gnome-pilot gnome-pilot-devel gnumeric guile guile-devel jpilot kpilot netcfg pilot-link pilot-link-devel postgresql postgresql-devel postgresql-jdbc postgresql-odbc postgresql-perl postgresql-python postgresql-server postgresql-tcl postgresql-test pygnome pygtk python python-devel pythonlib rpm-devel tkinter Now let's hope it won't be changed back to /usr/lib ;-) Stefan

Sounds good... (seems 2 B a low-level package, by looking at the things it impacted).. fetchmailconf gnome-pilot gnome-pilot-devel gnumeric guile guile-devel jpilot kpilot netcfg pilot-link pilot-link-devel postgresql postgresql-devel postgresql-jdbc postgresql-odbc postgresql-perl postgresql-python postgresql-server postgresql-tcl postgresql-test pygnome pygtk python python-devel pythonlib rpm-devel tkinter yuck. ah... if it's a one-time-thing then it's no problem. I wouldn't like to see people flip-flopping from /usr/lib to /lib and back to /usr/lib a few times... Stefan

I'm in the process of recompiling the packages above, and the results are not nice. They compile fine, but when you try to install them: rpm -Uvh guile-* error: failed dependencies: libreadline.so.4.1 is needed by guile-1.3.4-3mdk and this is for all of them. Maybe I'm st*p*d or terribly dumb, but my impression is that this is looking 'ugly'.

Hi, Someone heart about 'Linux Filesystem Structure' ?? It's somewhat outdated (1995) I now, but it's the only way for everyone to know WHERE FILES STAYED and MUST STAYING ! So let us follow that. Now there is already a difference between distributions, so if will Mandrake go this way up also ?? Eric

Eric yep i don't know what is a base system util but requires readline (other than bash) so maybe it is good to static link bash and then move it back to /usr/lib ?? p.s. rh has theirs in /usr/lib -- Thomas Poindessous EpX asso GNU/Linux de l'Epita [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.epita.fr/~epx
