Does this affect the inclusion of SO 6 in the PowerPack version of Mandrake?

STAROFFICE GOES COMMERCIAL, AND STAYS OPEN-SOURCE

StarOffice 6.0 will come with
enhanced features and added support, but at a price, as Sun aims
to attract a wider audience towards the office-productivity
software suite. A less sophisticated version of the product will
still be available for free download.

  Works OK here.

Thanks Peter! I just fired up another X server on a different userid and
it works there... looks like yet another migration issue to track
 down... sigh

This is something I have been wondering about. How do I start an x session
for a second user. I.E. I am working on something and my son wants to paly
for a while, I would like to log in his Id and let him go without closing my
own session. I know it's not cooker but I appreciate your time all.

Just go to a new virtual console (Alt+Ctrl+F[1-6]), login as the new user and
type:

  startx -- :N

where N is 1, 2 or 3.

If you have enough memory, you can start more...

:0 is usually at Alt+Ctrl+F7,
:1 at Alt+Ctrl+F8,
:2 at Alt+Ctrl+F9, and
:3 at Alt+Ctrl+F10.

[Cooker] Staroffice

2001-05-08 Thread Thomas SMETS

I've installed (net install) Staroffice 5.2 on a MDK 7.2.
The install /net (as root) worked fine but I cannot do a user-install in
my private drive (as myself). What i don't understand is the fact that
the README refereces the MAK 6.0 as using the glic 2.0 while the
application seems to struggle to find it. A quick look in the
/etc/ld.so.conf seems to effectively to indicate that the available
library is not right

snip
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib
/snip

I wander if I need to put in the ld.so.conf the /lib directory too or
simply put a symbolic to some place or ... Could some one give me some
hint(s) ?

Tx,

Thomas,

Just tried this and it still locked up. Maybe there
is some kind of library missing. This really sucks.
I may have to switch to SuSE 7.1, it works really well
on my laptop, and I can get my sound working with SuSE
too.

Nothing to do.
Installed glibc, same result:

[claudio@monster claudio]$ ./office52/program/soffice
Aborted

What does it mean???
I know OpenOffice, really much better than StarOffice for speed and license,
but still missing important functions!
I'll try installing another cooker during incoming weekend...

Well when I read the licence agreement when I donwloaded it. It says that I am
not allowed to distribute the file that I downloaded. And that licence
agreement is the one you bind yourself to. So then they better change their
