My xscreensaver is 4.14-3mdk. What 9.2 rpm are you asking about? Cooker
10.0 is just some new version apps on top of Mandrake 9.2 right now.

What xscreensaver, KDE and Gnome versions do you have?

I'm using it with Fluxbox and IceWM with no troubles. Cooker 10.0 but no
KDE and minimal Gnome libraries only.

i'm using mdk 9.2 and whenever i use xscreensaver to lock the desktop (kde or

This leads to me having to kill xscreensaver from the console which then kills

LDAP users work fine for me with xscreensaver, I may be a bit behind
(about 3 days), but:

Hi!

Xscreensaver is not unlocking the screen for yp user accounts. After
entering the password it hangs saying "Checking...".

After creating local entries in passwd/shadow for that user it works. I
think it is broken since the update to pam-0.77.

[Cooker] Xscreensaver keeps multible processes alive (atleast with solarwinds-module)

2003-01-14 Thread mika . laitio

I noticed that my system used to be very slow. I used top-command and noticed that I had multible solarwinds processes running and they were eating all of my resouces.
I am using newest uptodate cooker with gnone with XScreensaver enabled and I have selected solarwinds gl-module.
Because I was using my system, the xscreensaver were stopped and therefore I think that all solarwind processes should also have been killed, which was however not the case.
Here is my top-output

PID USER      PR  NI  VIRT  RES  SHR S %CPU %MEM    TIME+  Command
 3535 lamikr    19  10  2016 2016 1468 R  7.1  0.4   9:01.54 solarwinds

 3612 lamikr     9   0 12972  12m 7024 S  1.3  2.5   0:05.57 gnome-terminal

I rebooted the my computer just for safe and was able to reproduce the problem very easily.

1) Boot to gnome
2) Enable XScreensaver and select solarwinds
3) Let the screensaver start and run for a while
4) Activate computer so that xsreensaver deactivates
5) Use top and notice solarwinds processes

My system is following:
        Mandrake cooker,
        kernel-2.4.21.pre2.1mdk-1-1mdk (acpi off)
        xscreensaver-4.06-3mdk
rss_glx-0.7.0-1mdk                (from contribs, I think that that includes solarwinds module)

        AMD K6-3 400 mhz
        Nvidia TNT2

I am not sure whether I should create a bug from this because the problem may as well be in the contrib-package than in the xcreensaver itself...

No, because KDE has its own screensavers and we don't want to confuse
users..
But nothing prevent you to add a menu entry for xscreensaver using
menudrake

I just noticed that the menu entry for xscreensaver is only for gnome. Being
as it's pretty easy to get kde to use the screen savers from xscreensaver,
could the menu entry be changed to display the menu item in kde as well?

Well ...

urpme xscreensaver(-gl)

urpmi xscreensaver (-gl) [from cooker]

urpmq -r xscreensaver(-gl)

still gives the two versions as above.

But rpmdrake and GnoRPM both insist that only xscreensaver-4.05-5mdk and
xscreensaver-gl-4.05-5mdk are installed! So I am stuck. (Does this
suggest that the RPM database is confused?)

Whenever xscreensaver is triggered from the Gnome menu (Actions | Lock
Screen) I'm seeing debugging (?) messages, in yellow Courier font, of
the form:

12:59:08: xscreensaver: LOCK ClientMessage received: activated and
locking

(and about 10 similar lines)

with, at the end:

sent key ...

on a new line every time I type a character of my password to unlock the
screen. This happens with 'normal' screensavers, not the OpenGL ones.

Versions:

[thebrix@localhost thebrix]$ urpmq -r xscreensaver-gl

[Cooker] xscreensaver and Gnome2

2002-08-20 Thread Robert Fox

Latest Cooker install . . .

I seem to remember this problem has been around for a while . . .

There is a large list of xscreensavers available, but certain ones
simply don't exist (at least on the default install) - so why are they
on the list?

And example is "engine" - it says "no preview" when selected, and when
you click on "preview" the following error occurs:

xscreensaver: 14:51:46: could not execute "engine": No such file or
directory

Current directory is: /home/rfox
PATH is:
/usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver
/usr//bin <-- NOTE there are TWO "//" in there!!!
/bin
/usr/bin
/usr/local/bin
/usr/X11/bin
/usr/games
/home/rfox/bin

xscreensaver:14:51:46: 0: child pid 10152 (engine) exited abnormally
(code 1)

[Cooker] xscreensaver-gl modules SIGSEGV with -fps

2002-08-10 Thread Chuck Shirley

All of /usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/* will crash with segmentation
violations if they are called with -fps parameter. Some (glpanet,
glsnake, molecule, and spheremonics) crash with {any|no} parameters.
stonerview does not crash with -fps as it does not accept the option.
Otherwise, all of the modules run nicely with other options.

At least some of the gl modules do not crash with the -fps parameter
as long as the dri module is not loaded on X startup. I have only
tried it with glforestfire, gears, and engine.

My system is dual P-3 machine on DVD266, the chipset requires agpgart
using agp_try_unsupported=1, but this has never been a problm before.
Video card is Radeon 64MB DDR. Relevant (as perceived by me) Packages:

XFree86-4.2.0-17mdk
xscreensaver-gl-4.05-2mdk
kernel-enterprise-2.4.19.1mdk-1-1mdk

I will provide any other information as requested.

[Cooker] xscreensaver

2001-05-06 Thread Michael Reinsch

Hi!

Small problem with xscreensaver from 8.0: After locking I can't unlock
anymore because it simply refuses my password:

xscreensaver(pam_unix)[18014]: authentication failure; logname= uid=501
euid=501 tty=:0.0 ruser= rhost=  user=mr
xscreensaver(pam_unix)[18014]: authentication failure; logname= uid=501
euid=501 tty=:0.0 ruser= rhost=  user=root

I then can still login at a console.

I installed xscreensaver-3.31-1mdk.i586.rpm from cooker to test, but that
didn't help. This one also doesn't show the animated previews in the small
window in the gnome control center.

Hi!

None of the 3D screensavers from xscreensaver-gl-3.31-1mdk seem to work.
I've got the nvidia drivers installed and running. tuxracer and chromium
work fine.
But, when I try to run one of the 3D screensavers, like Sierpinski3D, Gears
or whatever, I get this error message:

root window's visual 0x30 does not support the GLX extension

Why is that? xdpyinfo tells me that GLX is working (else tuxracer and
chromium wouldn't run...).

Further quite some of the enabled GLX screensavers are missing. These are:

- DangerBall
- Molecule
- GLText
- StarWars
- StonerView
- GFlux
- extrusion
- Lament
- Stairs
- Moebius
- Cage

The following non-GLX screensavers are enabled but cannot be found:

- WhirlWindWarp
- RotZoomer
- Zoom
- XRaySwarm
- XMatrix
- XJack
- Hyperball

Also "WebCollage (whacked)" cannot be run, because it needs djpeg which I
don't have installed - if this is my fault, than djpeg needs to be added to
the Requires:. djpeg is in the pacakge »libjpeg-progs«. Also I do not
think it's a good idea to have WebCollage enabled at all. Some people pay
by the minute to get onto the net - they won't be amused to find that a

I have problem with xscreensaver-3.31-1mdk.

'Code 0' seems good to me = password is OK, what do you think?

Time to go back to < 3.31??? :-))

Have a nice day!
